Half Mary 4 weeks before IMAZ

We have the local Rock and Roll Mary and Half on 10/21, 4 weeks before IMAZ.  My plan calls for a 2 hour run w/ 6 miles @ LRP + 30 and the rest at LRP on Thursday.  Options: 1) do plan as written and do not do the RnR; 2) Move the long run to Saturday and have fun with the crowd and run as Thursday plan is written; 3) Use this as an opportunity to get a Vdot for a 1/2 and race it; 4) Other suggestions.  Any thoughts.  Thanks!

  • Make the RnR your long run for the week, race it and have fun. So a combo of options 2 and 3.
  •  #3. Warm up & cool down asneeded for 2 hr run. Then USE the VDOT @ IM AZ

  • Similar to the other thread going in re recovery from long runs it's an individual call. I would not be able to bike hard for a couple days after running for vdot HM and total 18 miles vs LRP paced 15miles. If I was doing IM in 4weeks the HM would be between MP and LRP. I am personally more worried about maxing the Bike workouts. My Vdot going up or down a point is not going to change my personal approach to my IM race.
