What It Takes....October 2012
Hi Ladies! I've been in marathon state of mind this past spring/summer/fall, and haven't been lurking or writing on here. Time to re-focus on triathlon! I recovered completely from a complete hysterectomy in January, and have dedicated my season to running. My goal this year is to once again, give IMLOU my full attention, and FINISH it this time, in 2013!!
How is everyone? So excited that today is Kona, and hope to track Coach P and other EN peeps!
Drop in and say "hi" when time permits!

I hadn't had much mojo to do an IM race in '13 until... WTC announced the IM Canada in Whistler! My favorite place and closest from my house. I just signed up, and feel excited about the challenge!
I hope everyone is doing well.
Where are the rest of you ladies??
I took a severe break after IMLP and kinda vanished from the EN site. It's good to be getting back and re-focused. I'm excited to start the OS in a week and a half! Actually, I'm a little scared. Haha! It's amazing how fast I get lazy. I'm sure a few days back into it, and I'll feel on board with it all again.
I've got to start checking in here more often!
Kori
I haven't ever posted in this forum before... so hi! I am so out of the loop I didn't even realize that IM Canada will be in Whistler! Love that place... I used to live in Seattle, so I've made many a long weekend trip to Whistler for skiing.
I've signed up for Eagleman in June, and as of now, that is my only race. I missed out on signing up for IMWI because my husband practically had a cow about the money. I am SO bummed because an old college of roommate signed up and I was so looking forward to doing my first IM with her. However, my mother-in-law was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and I thought it would be an awesome way to raise some money for the cause and also to bring everyone together (both my husband and my families live near Minneapolis, MN so the race would be doable in terms of travel for all of them!). Sooo, I am hoping I can make all of that work out. Will start the OutSeason, etc as if I plan to race IMWI. Looking forward to getting back on a plan.
And Kori - my nickname growing up was Kori! 50% of my life still calls me Kori. I have only ever seen one other person spell it the way we do!
What does everyone do between the end of their season and OS? I hate to lose fitness, but am DONE training!
Kim, in answer to your question, I just take it easy, run a bit, do some yoga, elliptical/ARCH trainer, whatever I feel like. Many of the veteran ladies do Cyclo Cross, ski, etc.
Welcome back Kori, and welcome Kylie, from Australia!
I completed all three of my marathons, within 40 days, and am now an 'official' Marathon Maniac! (Yasko!)
Keeping an eye on Hurricane Sandy, and hoping my teamates on the East coast all stay safe!
Watching the Bears lose to Carolina right now....
Once I recover I may stick to some running (weakest) and do tabatas on the bike a couple days a week and see how that works in terms of maintaining some of the fitness. The thought of my ftp dropping back to where I started last year makes me nauseous!
Cool on all the K's here!
Good to hear from everyone!
@Barb: You are a maniac! But we love you anyway.
@Kim: Will you be able to make it to FL OK?
@Kortney: Welcome!
@Kori: You'll enjoy the OS. It is hard, but fun!
@Yasko: Good to see you back!
I've totally lost motivation since finishing RedMan in September. I'm enjoying sleeping and having time to do other things - like knitting! I went to Knit Camp a couple of weekends ago. Now all I want to do is knit. Work is slowing down a bit which is good, and bad. Starting the countdown to leaving for Vail for Christmas! I need to sign up for something to get motivated to start working out. I want to work on my run and swim over the OS. I'm trying to decide whether to look at a Total Immersion swim coach, or just use my regular swim coach. Having a hard time getting pumped to get up at 4AM for a 5AM master's swim. When I was in grad school, I could go home and take a nap after. Can't do that with a job. . . .
Hope everyone on the East Coast is OK!
I know it could be way, way worse, but this just sucks. And, hubby was out of town for the entire thing... doesn't come back until tomorrow. I haven't had a decent workout in three days and I am CRANKY!
Penny, isn't a pity you can't knit and peddle on a trainer at the same time! Actually, it's probably possible but it'd be a bit hard to work hard while going at it with the needles! In theory I knit, but what I really do more often is build stash....
