Scott - I feel your pain, with a 404 and an 808. In the end, rather than carry different valve length tubes, I opted to go with 80 mm length valves - it is more than I need for the 404 > so much that you don't need an extender for the 404. Use a short valve extender with the 808 and you should be good to go - just my .02 cents

+1 on this - I've never run with an 808 so I cant comment on that, I carry vanilla butly 80mm stemmed tubes for my 404s when I'm riding them.
I've got Enve 65/45s and use the 80mm valve length which fits the rear. It sticks out a lot more on the front - so what - that beats carrying multiple tubes with different valve lengths. If I had an 808, I would go out on the course with two tubes both pre-fitted with extenders for the 808. And if I flatted on the 404, I wouldn't think twice before sticking in the long valve tube.
I can't count the number of rides I've seen sabotauged (sp?) by someone not having teflon tape or can't get the extender to seal, blowing through a entire group rides' worth of Co2 cartridges. I will calmly feign deafness when you start asking around for Co2's to inflate your tires
When I first used valve extenders in 2010 I actually had teflon tape in the house (I'm normally not the type of person that would have teflon tape on hand). I use Tefon tape to keep tremolo arms on Stratocaster guitars from having too much 'play'.
One thing I learned from the article is that I do had not been using enough of tape on the valve stem, hasn't been a problem up 'till now, but it's good to know the correct wqay to do something.
