Where Are You Staying?

I'm at The Sterling Breeze  www.sterlingresorts.com/Panama-City...Breeze/25/

It's about 2.5 miles away from the race start.  5-10min depending on traffic.  It's one of the newer condo resorts in the area so I trust that it's not beat down by the high school and college kid parties.  1,2, 3 bedroom options.  My wife and daughter are going to PCB for a weekend soon and she's gonna confirm whether it's as good as we hope.

$119/night for that time of year.  They do sell out as November gets closer.

  • Still up in the air at this point. Changed plans, and my husband and kids are not coming but I found a friend to room with. I'd be interested in hearing about The Sterling Breeze after your wife checks it out.
  • Do you know that the other day i actually had to frantically dig through old paperwork because I had forgotten where I was staying for IMFL...I had booked last november...I think it was one of those weird IM freak out moments...

Staying at the Laketown Wharf with myself and a huge Entourage of family supporters...
  • @Nate- we'll remind u as we get closer.
  • @ Sarah - girls trip to PCB got nixed. No recon available.
Woulda been nice to hear that it's as nice as the website implies. Oh well.
  • My friend did some searching on VRBO.com and found us a place at Ocean Villa about .5 miles from the start. Looks pretty decent, fairly new so hopefully not beat to death by spring breakers. I've got a flight booked, and now I just need to figure out how I'm getting my bike there.
  • Sarah,

    look into tribike transport.

    http://tribiketransport.com/

I used them when I traveled to Lake Placid and I was really impressed with them. Run by tri guys that know what we're afraid of. Bike stays assembled, except you take the pedals, and you can ship an gear bag with them, too. Cheaper than flying the bike, IMO. And much greater Peace of Mind.

  • Thanks Chris. Its been awhile since I looked at Tribike transport for anything, so I need to go back and look over their website. I would love to use a transport service. They have no partner shop in Iowa though. Not sure they'll make a trip through for just a few bikes.
  • For those of you traveling in from long distances, for bike transport you might try your local cycling club to see if they have cases available to borrow or rent. I saw some talk of tribiketransport.com (and there is also http://www.bikeflights.com/) but in my experience regular old fedex ground was the cheapest at $50 in the trico iron case I borrowed from my club. Took a lot of assembly to get the bike in and out of the case but it was cheap.
  • Staying in a house about 1 mile away from start and also about a block away from the run course so my peeps will get to stay close to home for the run portion. We may have some extra space (some folks are still pending) so if anyone needs a room for themselves or self + spouse/SO, let me know. We might have an extra room.
  • Condo cancellations are starting to come in and spots are starting to open up around PCB.
I've been stalking the Laketown Wharf reservation site since May and was finallly able to snag a condo there yesterday.

If anyone is still looking for a place to stay close to the race start/finish, try: Laketown Wharf, Shores of Panama, Longbeach Condos.
    Keep stalking!!
  • I am planning to cancel my room at the Boardwalk but if someone here wants to try to work out a transfer let me know. It is for 4 nights:

    11/01/2012 ------ USD 139.00
    11/02/2012 ------ USD 139.00
    11/03/2012 ------ USD 139.00
    11/04/2012 ------ USD 139.00
