IMSG 2010 week 1 bike thread(FT test )
Hi peeps,
I did a "regular" bike today, whatever that means. No FT test yet. Did lots of 5-8 minute FT intervals for 1 hour. Basically the feeling I have is my FT got lower over the OS. Which could be a bummer if I let it. I have decided not to let it bum me out and just keep plugging along. I feel fit and strong darn it. Wish the numbers showed that?
Tomorrow is Sat long ride with Tom Glynn. I work this weekend so long run will be before work Sun. 3 hr ABP ride...hhmm, I guess will squeeze in before work Sat on trainer?? Or fri night?? Hard to fit it all in.
Hope you are all ok.
Let's keep posting, ok?
I know there are a few more SG peeps out there.

We HAVE done a lot of solid and hard work over the last 16-17 weeks. WE ARE FIT and WE ARE STRONG! I'm hopeful that the numbers will come around at some point...
I'm sure that your ride with Tom will be great!! That should allow you to post some solid TSS! I'll be thinking of you guys while I'm on my trainer!
I haven't seen much movement on my VDOT or FTP either. However, I have noticed I'm not as thrashed after training workouts, meaning my recovery time is so much more solid. I think my body is absorbing the work better. Although, I might not have that same perspective at the end of the week, I actually have noticed a huge improvement in my bodies ability to absorb the work. Right now I'm less concerned about big gains and more concerned about dailing in for race pace. With the repeated testing I know have a data base to know what is a realistic expectation for race day. Overall, I think we're on track mentally if we're antsy for long distance workouts and not burned out like we would be if we did what most triathletes do by building the typical areboic base with LSD during the winter months. Honestly, I haven't found the proper rest & recovery dosage in EN because I really try to stay with what the coaches give us. In the past I always had versions of EN transition weeks every 4th week in my training. With EN we don't get that and we don't taper much for testing so it would make sense to see compromised testing results. I guess I'm just trying to say don't sweat it too much. I know you're both doing the work and in the end it will pay off.
I'll post tomorrow after my ride with Tom. I do a longish run beforehand with my running peeps( 10 miles with 5 at tempo). So little does Tom know, he'll be pulling:-)
shhh, don't tell him...

Okay, I've put in my 2 cents, now I'll go back to my Nov. OS where I belong!
Somehow muscled through a 4 hour ride( 3:58 to be exact) after a 10 mile run earlier in the morning
. No time this weekend for any rides with my work schedule.
Rode with Tom Glynn and two other sweet friends( Tanya and Jeff). They were kind enough to let us ride out front and be aero. I spent a lot of time in my aero bars, did some FT work( well pushed hard and my legs burned but the numbers look more like 85-90%
). I never thought I could ride that far today. My friend Tanya was cursing me. I think my new nickname is rated "R". Actually the entire ride might have been rated "R". We let out a few choice words here and there.
All in all we did it, my aero position feels great, my numbers are low but I am choosing to stop focusing on that and just do my best.
Onward my friends....
