IMSG 2010 week 2 swim thread

Great swim today. Still working to "fix " my stroke. Working on roll, position, gentle kick and "hang time". I think I am getting it. I feel the changes and like it. Baby steps!!

Comments

  • I was really stoked to swim three times last week. Plan to do the same this week. Probably one masters and increasing volume through the week. Feeling like I'll have a better IM swim this year already. Over confidence??? Probably image

  • don't sweat it...you guys are rock stars. year round swimming is over-rated. image
  • 2000 yards yesterday. Around 3000 today. Upper back is getting tired. Last year it was more shoulders that were getting sore. Better technique this year? Hope so!

  • Wasn't feeling the pool last night so swam open water for second time this week. Better for mojo than stroke mechanics. Thought a kitesurfer would run me over. It was windy with some rockin waves.

  • Lynnette:
Where do you live girl? Open water swim option would be nice. Did you take the kite surfer out?
  • This is probably cruel considering some of the comments people have been making about snow and cold but this is 0.8 mi from my house. It's called Kailua Beach and is on the Windward side of Oahu. This picture was taken by some tourist type from what I refer to as the Lanikai phallic symbol and is looking the wrong way to see the offshore islands, Flat Island and the Mokes. President Obama's Christmas vacation place for the last 2 years is at the far end of this beach which is about 2.5 mi. Swam Ala Moana Beach Park on Sunday which has marked 1000, 2000 m(supposed, they're long) loops and swam at Kailua Beach Tuesday night.

  • *Sigh*

Beautiful! As I sit here looking forward to three days of snow I'm contemplating quitting my job and coming out to be your live in cook....
  • Gorgeous!!! You truly live in paradise. I miss the beach as I grew up in southern cal. No, I don't consider the photo posting cruel but find it inspiring to say the least. Thanks for sharing.
  • Lynnette, can I come and stay with you! (Just for a week or two - I'll bring my bike and leave the kids at home, promise!)
  • Another good week of swimming for me. Swam 3 times again. Day 1, 2000 yards, Day 2, about 3000 yards and day 3, 4100 yards. Longest I've swam in six months, I'm sure. A little tiring on the last swim day, but my 100 yard time was pretty consistent from beginning to end. I'm trying again for the same results next week.
  • as you get back to swimming, don't be afraid to bust out the swim ebook and the swimming cord exercises. You can download the book via the downloads section of the Train Map, either the Start Station or the Swim Station...
