IMSG 2010 week 4 swim thread

 Hello Everyone.

On my first swimming test I was able to do 1000 meters in 19 min, Keep in mind that I didn’t got in the water over 13 months, Today I did my 2nd test in 16 min and I’m super happy   , I know I’m not a fast swimmer but I’m glad to drop off 3 min of my time  in just 4 weeks

  • I'm getting faster too, but you're going to beat me out of the water!

1,000 yard test: August 19:25, October 18:07, This week 17:26.

I think flip turn skills would net me another 30 seconds but that's for another time!

  • There must be something in this March air. I’m with you Cervelo, something is going on with my swimming….and I kinda like it! I’ve been really enjoying being in the water again, and have approached my workouts as a nice break from all the running and biking, and an opportunity to really be aware of body position and being calm in the water. So last month when I did my T-Pace test I came out at 17:05 I thought I must have miscounted. Back in 2008, the last time I did testing of this sort I generally came out between 18:03 and 18:07. I did a ton of work on form and body position since then, so I figured it was possible to have a minute’s worth of improvement. But you never know. Miscounting does happen. So today I go in and I knock out 1000 in 16:55. I really felt good; steady, strong, and aware through the whole thing. What a joy! It’s funny. When I have a little victory like this I almost could care less about the upcoming big-a$$ race….I feel like I already accomplished something great!
  • Good Job Olivia, It shows that Endurance Nation approach of not swimming during the off season does work.
