Best place to stay for NOLA 70.3

I can't seem to find a race/event guide or even course maps for New Orleans 70.3.

I'm contemplating it for 2015, along with a group of local peeps.

Anyone have any suggestions on places/areas to stay?!? Is there an 'official' race hotel?

  • Do you want to stay in the city or close to the race? The race is NOT in great area. Host hotel is Hilton Riverside. www.hiltonneworleansriverside.com/ It is your traditional convention hotel. Decent area to unpack - hotels in the French Quarter can be challenging. But there are tons of hotels. So it depends what you are looking for. Boutique: Le Pavillon, Modern: The W. Check the prices for InterContinental New Orleans too - it is comparable to the Hilton and there may be deals.

I did the 5150 this year and stayed in the Motel 8 close to the race start. It is cheap, clean and has good reviews. But it is ONLY a place to sleep. 6322 Chef Menteur Highway, I-10 Exit 240 B, New Orleans, LA 70126. Outside entry motel.
  • One other thing, here is a link to the 2014 Athlete Guide:

  • Here are the course maps:ย http://www.ironman.com/triathlon/ev...z3KkRzbFcq

NOLA 70.3 is a logistically difficult race to navigate with the host hotel and packet pickup nowhere near the race site. ย At least the finish line is at the transition area for next year. ย It used to be hotel/expo/packet pickup at A, swim/bike/T1/T2 at B, and finish at C.

I'm staying at the Marriott Courtyard Downtown. ย Address is 910 Iberville.ย

  • I still haven't booked a hotel for NOLA.

Any ideas on anything downtown-ish that's less than $250/night and doesn't gouge for parking (since I'll be driving from Dallas)?
Ideally, walking distance (and safe to do so) to/from French Quarter. I realize I might be asking a lot!
  • Staying in Metairie just outside of New Orleans for $108: see link below. It is 20-25 minutes from race. Couldn't find anything reasonable near race or in the Quarter. You could look in the Warehouse District, which is easy walking distance to the Quarter. But expect $200. http://www.expedia.com/New-Orleans-Hotels-Sleep-Inn-Suites-Metairie.h870852.Hotel-Information?hashTag=overview&c=738df8dc-86f9-4384-999c-f50c69015153&rm1=a2&&rfrr=AB.5037.1&universalDataObjectExposureEnabled=false
