  • M-
There you are!!! Here we go. I cheated and did my swim yesterday ( 2nd swim since IMAZ image. Starting my" tightening up the routine" lists, so I don't miss anything.
    Roll call, please!
  • The Four Keys girl is lassoing the cow is the IMWI logo. Awesome!

Supersized OS has me in the pool tonight.

I have been waiting for this thread! I am so happy it is here!

  • Holy crap! Just 20 weeks---Time to hunker down.
I did my swim yesterday too. Off to yoga now, but I'm gonna kick my own a$$ later today and get on the trainer.
    Chica, chica, moo, moo!
  •  Just checking in as the IMMOO Chica Chica Cheerleader! Go Team! I'll be cheering you  on during the 20 weeks. My 12 week Race Prep starts next week

I'm drinking out of my IM Lake Placid Coffee mug right now. A friend gave me years ago after doing some training rides with her. On the back it says " To Do Is To Be"- Socrates

     Have a great week 1!

  • Wow 20 weeks, good luck to everyone starting out on week one of their plans, I'm on week 15/20 of my HIM plan for IMKS so the 20week mark slipped my mind, but I'll be hopping back on 'da plan' in June.
  • Pinch me!!! oh my goodness. here I sit still red faced and sweaty.. so I moved tomorrow's run to today and the swim to tomorrow! now I ran 10 yesterday at very slow pace btw, but I met 3 GFs for running after realizing what the week's tng was gonna be like, I needed them. in a golf course rolling hill very beautiful community, I warmed up with them and they occasionally stop for lunges! and at 2.3 miles I could tell my legs felt good! I said goodbye to them as they left for work, and then I decided to do the 2 x 1 mile knowing that it was the intermed and 3 x .5 was the beginner, but three of something sounded worse than 2 of something! okay, into the headwind, up the hills, sun out in the 60's and very windy, but I already said that! one mile at 8:42... breathing hard definitely in zone 4 and old VDOT woulda been 8:22 but with all sorts of stuff, I have lowered that! so on the way back, wind at my back and hitting hills diff way... 8:30! I really did do it! I wasn't at puke stage (zone 5) but heavy loud breathing but muffled (to me) by IPOD blaring Sarude by Sandstorm! I finished up and called my GF Cindi "I did it and thanks!" and when I turned back on IPOD "I can only Imagine" by Mercy Me.. I just about cried with thankfulness! Thank you God! so I had printed out 3 weeks of training and sat and looked at it, rearranged and then said to myself "just one day at a time" and "I will do what I tell myself I will do unless of medical or painful injury!" and so for 9' I hurt, and I pushed it and pushed it oblvious to cars and trucks in the neighborhood as I gave them a Peace sign when they passed me... I saw the pink azaleas in people's yards, the puffy clouds in the sky as I concentrated on the hills and when to push at the top to get down the hill, focusing on relaxing my body even in pain..... oh man, it felt good to run fast in a sick, sick way! I hope your first day is great as well! (Luna Protein bar before the run for 190 cals, tastes like a snickers, eaten in heavy traffic in my car!).... m
  • Oh........My........God!!!! Is it really week 1 of 20? I've been trying to trick myself by switching to the HIM plans in prep for Eagleman in June and then I'll "officially" joing you on the IMWI plan. But until then I think the basic weekly schedule is about the same. Man, I gotta get myself back into this routine!!!

I swam this morning and did my T-Test. I didn't look at the watch yet to see what it said (need to remember how to do "recall" on that thing). And I'll run this afternoon. I really need to get my butt back into a routine of getting the swim & run done before work though- splitting it up like this gets really risky for me (as in, if doesn't happen before work- it might not happen).
  • aww yea! It's funny. I haven't really been on any structured plan for the past few months so when I booted up this morning, there was a swim workout instead of the usual "you're plan hasn't started yet" message.

oh man do I need to get back in the pool. still trashed from the weekends race and ride/run yesterday. It was definitely one of those sinking kind of swims where I secretly hope the 15 yo life guard isn't sleeping like he usually does.

  • My T-test this morning was pretty pitiful! I got lots o work to do!
  • going to doc tomorrow and hopefully will get steroid shot in my right shoulder blade area.. as arm still not better, shoulder so no swimming, yep prednizone made it better and now just a dull ache, I did read medical forum and need to schedule in some stretching stuff for me but right now it just hurts. gonna beg doc for a shot! I must be desperate.
  • September seems like a long way off.  When you say 20 weeks, it really is'nt is it?    I'm glad I still have the Mooseman 70.3 to think about (June 6th).

Still glad you started this thread though, I'll take all the extra motivation I can get.

  • Started MOO training with a whimper, not a bang. Day off. LOL!!!

Seriously, I'm in week 8 of HIM training for the Patriot HIM that I will likely NOT do. (Maybe the aquabike, we'll see.) So after two rides this weekend, and a weird work day, I just let the swim go. This HIM training has been SO loose it's hysterical. More of a "hmmmmm, do I feel like doing that today?" than anything structured. Time to get this sorry arse in gear for real, believe me. image

  •  20 wks

Actually, I am really excited about finally getting to the training.  I have been itchy to get going.  I know the short fast stuff is fun, but I really miss the focus of having an A race to get you going.

The pool was pretty nice this morning, but I am still feeling like I am drowning with every stroke.  I ususally find my stroke somewhere near the 3-4 week mark and I start to feel a little better about things.  Now the hard part of scheduling all the workouts into my life begins.  And of course I am going to try to keep everyone involved in the nitty-gritty of the decisions.  Ah...If only John Stark was here to tell a story or two.

Anyway, I am glad this is finally going,

Todd, official  fan of the EN IMMOO gang

  • I have split my season in two, so right now on week 15 HIM plan.  Will switch to IM plan June 21st.  Must say though with all the volume increase, feeling the fatiuge and this is only HIM training.  Read a great book this past week, "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Luttrel....anyhow there is some adice in there that caught my eye. " Don't look ahead to the pain, just one day at a time, one workout at a time."  I liked that, it is helping me focus and try to be mentally strong while Im in the moment and not think about what is to come.

  • Still in the OS for me (sort of).  Starting up the 12-week plan in mid-June.

  • Bike, 3 x 8', on tri bike solo outside on a cool, windy morning.. had to wear tights and jacket!.. done and with no fluff.. Back at the car, transition to run with Rudy! yep he has been given the all clear.. so 30' brick run and him running in open field beside me while I ran partly on the paved trail and partly in the rut of a truck in the grass. (soft surface).. still cool and windy and nobody out. spoiled that way as we had the whole place to ourselves. Lara Bar Cashew cookie in cool down on bike. Banana post run and now a Gluten free blueberry pancake. the dog is whooped as it has been 5 weeks of no running! but he was also pretty excited ! and so was I to have my buddy back with me. okay off to the docs! Day 2 in the books!!! yes. m
  • I'm so happy for Rudy! And happy you have your running buddy back too!
  • Ugh....didn't get up this morning. Now I'll have to get the work done after the place I go to support my hobby. Maybe it'll warm up and I can do it outside! Glad everyone has the mojo. It's inspiring.
  • gang, off to do my long run today and not tomorrow as my running GF/mentor is doing hers up my way. Rain forecasted for Friday and ltd./no childcare on weekend so I am knocking mine out Mon - Friday! Hope your morning is going well. I was gonna make blueberry muffins and it says drain juice which I did, then in my precoffee state, I dumped the juice and not the berries into the batter! uhh... now willl make pancakes! I am still trying out GF products for me to see if my stomach can feel better.. so now why am I am making these??? oh yeah, those kids. hard to shake em outta bed but hoping that the aroma will help! Rudy? why that rascal chewed thru a favorite pair of reef glitter flip flops! yep he went into the doghouse last night while I was updating my blog and watching Israel Houghton sing on tV!! right by my feet I thought he was chewing a bone and nope, !! I feel good this morning and weight a bit down.. two weeks with new meds so keep doing this one day at a time, a real treat last night to ride with my buddies: Heather and James after their work.. doing IMWI as well and Heather off to Escape to Alcatraz.. so an EZ ride was on her books. a pleasant 16 miles yesterday and chattered the whole time! www.1year2ironman5.blogspot.com.....I feel great!!! now let's see if I can do this long run!! (note this is my favorite workout of the week!, hence my delight in finally getting to do it! and with my mentor?? win/win no matter the pace... now should I take that dog?? smile) m
  • 3x6 bike  and 20 min run done!! I lurve to run off the bike, always feel soooo much better. Everyone have a great day!!

  • I had 30/30's this morning (doing the HIM plan until June). My hammy is a bit tight so I'm saving the transition run for lunch. Need to stretch it a little between now and then.
  • I wussed out of my 3x8' FTP intervals today!  my bike legs be dead after the weekend. got 1.5 done and settled in for an easy spin. Weird to be back on the trainer today after all the nice weather.

  • so my run went well this morning!! oh yeah!!! I had 15' in zone 2 and 5' in zone 3.. which I think is called MP and HMP and the other zones were 1... so I was able to run with my GFs doing a 40" walk, 20" run... that would be a 13:30 run pace and they are 65, 55 and 55ish.... and good friends of mine from previous town.. so I wasn't fretting about my zone 1.. I can hit that most days!! and then I just went ahead for those zone and then linked back up and then dropped them off at cars and on way back, did the 5'... so I ended up with 10.5 miles... okay I just gotta recommend this walk/run protocol as a way to be kind to yourself! nice.. if you have the time... great way to bump up the mileage and build endurance (they are using Jeff Galloway for Dallas white rock marathon in Dec) and great way for me to link up with peeps and laugh while in my zone 1.. took Rudy and then he ran 1/2 of that and I put him in car as still cool outside as I want to buiild up his running, so he was on leash. okay so at their end they had 4 bananas? "please take them Marianne, we dont' want them.." so yep I ran back with 4 bananas and told them I would give them away and report (for fun) what I did with them.... The first two I gave to a couple about to walk their dogs.... and the 3rd banana I gave to the guy who mows the trails, ground maintenance but I know him by first name as I am a regular and tell him how much I like his mowing as often times I run on the grass besides the trail and appreciate it not being too tall! He was outside mowing and appreciated the banana! and the 4th banana ?? I ate!! and then did my 5'.... and thus this long run is called "The Banana Run"....!!! This afternoon, I rode my bike easy for 1 hour... okay so it is super nice out there and I know in July/Aug it won't be.. so I got myself a rule, if I have a "hard" run then I only ride easy... I mean I don't look for hills and I don' t feel any pain when riding, super dooper easy.. cuz basically I just love to be on my bike taking in the scenery!!! This is not in the EN training at all... smile. but riding at cruiser speed is so relaxing and fun that I gotta say it is mentally refreshing esp when you know that "work" on the bike is around the corner..! I ate a tangerine while on my bike and just enjoyed it...! yep I am feeling good today and I celebrate! and said while on the bike "Thank you GOD!"..... m
  • I am still in rogue mode. I keep changing days and workouts around, and cannot settle down. I've been on the HIM plan to build for Patriot, and I think I'll stay on that "schedule" until June race. I'll likely do the Aquabike. Then take a little break, ramp up to Moo Camp, take a little break in Maine, and then do the final build. Yep, that's my current plan.

Today I did 7 on the treadmill with 3x1 at TP. A squall line came through just as I wanted to go outside, but the whippin' wind and 40 degree temps chased me indoors. I just turn my brain off, the music up, and glad I can get the workout in and not have to skip it entirely.

It's so much easier for me to do my LR on Wednesdays, but I can't seem to figure out how to move all the other pieces around to make that work. I work from home on Wed., so I have a lot more flexibility. Thursday mornings are the worst day for me to do the LR.  Must ponder. Will likely suck it up like I did last time. image

  • for those of you about to do your long runs... this is 1/20 of these that you will have. yep only 20, maybe less if you count the taper.... so make it count. *key workout. get good sleep tonight, hydrate well, know your route , pack some calories and water, make it as stress free as possible, don't run if you feel injury returning or starting!! and know what you need to do. good luck and post back here.... HIM peeps welcome and next week I will retitle thread "19 weeks to go" so that we can hear from everybody to include those doing other B events before this one. Linda I know what you mean.. I am attempting to do my stuff mon-Friday due to family and ltd childcare on weekend. so gonna do a ride tomorrow. will see how this works out! m
  • 19 weeks to go. I kinda like that Marianne. But when it gets to single digits I may ask you to switch back cause it will probably freak me out!! HA!

Long run tomorrow! I'm ready. This will actually be my first "Long run" since the whole calf injury thing. I'm gonna take it nice and easy to make sure I stay healthy. 90 min is what the plan calls for, but I may just do 75 to be safe. Good luck tomorrow everyone!!!
  • Like Nemo I am in week 6 of the HIM plan in prep for EM in June. After EM I will be jumping into the 12 week IM MOO plan. I had 30/30's today followed by I run. I really wanted to skip the run but was motivated by the extra 400 calories I would burn. I will take any kind of motivation I can get. I hope everyone has a great long run tomorrow!
  • I am so totally in the mix it up stage (insert Cars song.. "shake it up") I am doing century ride this weekend then (shutter.... ) Kansas in only 5 weeks (what was I thinking?????). Same combo as last year though and I started swimming back in Jan. VERY happy now that I can get in 3000 swim in the mornings and finish.. well, still in the mornings! I've been loosely following the HIM plan with a bit more biking and hill work thrown in. Taper ride tonight felt good- broke out the tri bike (Nemo would be veeerrryyy proud of me for the cleaning job I did on the road bike last night.. can't get 'er dirty until ride day Sat). Long run tomorrow but will take easy a bit with the interval stuff. Still have an achey leg from some over aggressive hill work, which thanks much to Leigh, is on the mend. I am finding the Wed bike/Th long run combo doesn't work for me. I can't get in an am bike session here unless I hit the trainer so that back to back Wed night bike/brick and Thurs am long run just doesn't bode well for me. I've been doing the bike/brick  on Tues (ole school '09 EN schedule) & swim on Wed.  I am also finding, I am requiring more recovery time now to keep performance fine tuned so I am thinking of the Monday swim as "optional".  If I need the rest, that's what goes...

  • I was AIP (A$$ in Pool) at 5:30am this morning. The only thing that got me out of bed was thinking:"I told Becky I'd be in the pool on FB last night!" Thank you, Becky!
I'm still doing the Propulsion drill workout as I missed most of the swims last week from the pool being closed. While I have no love of drills, I do love what they've done for my stroke rate: 17 per 25 yards. And doing just drills leaves enough energy to get that long run done after work tonight!
  • "AIP"- Love it!!! We gotta add that one to the Wiki!

Kris- I've been trying on the new EN plan with the Brick on Wednesday. That Mon/Wed/Fri swim just felt so "normal" in the past. But I see the value of keeping that hard interval run farther away from the interval bike & long run. Anyway- provided I actually get the work done in the morning- I think it will be a good schedule. I just gotta get back into the routine (with my AIP at 5:30am on Mondays!)

I did the "long run" today. It was supposed to be 90 min but I only 75 min long with the 2x10' intervals. The longest I've run before today was 60 min and I thought jumping to 90 would be a recipe for re-injury. I'm just being ultra conservative about this comeback trail. Anyway, I'm still really slow, but I gotta say, it felt sooooooo good to be back doing a Thursday morning "long run" again. I'm finally starting to feel like myself again.

I've got a massage scheduled for tonight to help the recovery process from todays run. I've decided to keep working with this guy on a bi-weekly basis through the season. I think it will help keep me healthy- even if it is a bit pricey. No way could I afford to do it every week, so the foam roller will have to be my friend on the off weeks!

Swim tomorrow!!! Looking forward to practicing my flip turns!
