Normatec type recovery system
Dear WSM's:
I know normatec type recovery systems are mainly for recovery, has anyone purchased one to treat any medical conditions. I'm getting night "cramps" that are deep in my front hips and cause my legs to jerk similar to a restless leg situation. I was wondering if anyone else had this type of condition and/or what they did to resolve it. Wondering if a normatec system (probably need the hip/back extension?!) might help this in any way but didn't want to ask Normatec because I'm sure the answer would be yes :)
Thanks

Do you mean this? https://www.ninds.nih.gov/Disorders/Patient-Caregiver-Education/Fact-Sheets/Restless-Legs-Syndrome-Fact-Sheet
I use Air Relax for recovery https://www.air-relax.com/
I am a cheapskate though.
I use a magnesium supplement to counter-act the symptoms you describe (https://www.drugs.com/mtm/chelated-magnesium.html).
I bought a pair of Normatec boots for recovery, and I like them a lot for that. My wife does suffer from RLS and has a hard time falling asleep most nights. She'll spend 30 minutes in the boots before bedtime and they really help her.
I also use Air Relax. They were recommended to me by several local triathletes and they seem fine. Speedhound also seems to gets good reviews.
My mom has post-cancer lymphedema and she is getting Rx books. I'm interested to see how they are different (if they are different).
I've got the Normatec boots and they are fun to wear hanging out watching tv. I use them occasionally. My kids do laugh at me though. The science on them is really weak, not any better than placebo or just a good night's sleep.
There is a good book out there on sports pseudoscience called "Good to Go", which covers this and a lot of other products that are near and dear to our hearts, but are (scientifically) useless.
I'd talk to your doctor or ask for a referral to an expert.
Tom
