Long range weather forecast

Looks like weather.com is saying it will be 84 with AM clouds and PM sun.  We all know how accurate that is right?

I plan on being done before PM so no worries about sun for me!!!!  I wish.

But all in all, low to mid 80s would be great.

  • low 80's, low humidity, and clouds sounds positively dreamy!  let's all start praying, sacrificing animals/virgins, whatever...

  • Waaaay to early to think the forecast is anywhere near accurate!  But let's talk about a forecast of what is really important at Eagleman!!

    Seat Nettles!!!

Good news is that according to NOAA, the jellies haven't quite shown up yet.  This warm weather might change that, but if we get enough rain this week that could keep the population down.

  • Fingers and toes crossed for low 80s and cloud cover!

But I just know it'll be steamy and 90s with unrelenting sun....

Yeah, they're freaky. But I swam through them twice and survived!

  • The secret to starting a hot race day right is a well-paced swim. Be smart out there!
  • @Tucker - a jellyfish... not sure if it's a special kind of jelly fish or what... I'd never heard of them until last year in the week leading up to Eagleman.

I can assure you I will not be swimming too fast.  That is one thing I can promise on race day.

Great something else to think about while swimming.  At FL 70.3 they told me to look out for gators and water moccasins and had wranglers all over the place.  Lovely for someone who doesn't like open water swimming as it is.

  • New update!

Now they are saying a high of 86 with a 40% chance of thunderstorms. So what happens if there are thunderstorms?

That's a pretty typical forecast for Eagleman.  And with any luck, it will mean we get a little cloud cover but no rain   It does however mean the winds could be gusty- so just consider that possibility when thinking about your wheels.  40% is a pretty low chance- I'll take that forecast over 95 and sunny.

Unless it is Thunder & Lightening in the AM for the swim, the race will go on.  With lightening in the area they won't start the race- but they might delay it.  However, once folks are out on the bike course it's pretty hard for them to then stop the race if storms do pick up.
