Did I miss something about OS tweaks?

I'm a lurker and think I catch most of what goes on in the forum but I'm looking for OS pace/power tweak info. What do we bump things up? I can run my pace harder on my intervals but also realize that pushing too hard makes it difficult to recover for the next workout and racing into a brickwall awaits (been there). So, what is the sage advise on when and how to determine to push for higher FTP's and Z4 pace on the run prior to testing?

  • you earn the right to run faster by having a faster test. many of us can hold intervals at a faster pace, but it does mean it's good for us. we are training specific parts of our system---threshold, etc. so you want to make sure that your training that system.
as far as FTP, coach P put out a possibility in another thread--if your able to hit the intervals at 100%, see if you can push it up while still hitting all the intervals. so if FTP is 200, see if you can do 208, 208.....but it does no good to do 210, then 190 for the 2nd.
  • What Keith said. The link to my original post on this subject is here.

  • Thanks Keith and Patrick.
