  • Finally getting a chance to check in.  This past week I was doing some continuing ed, but managed to get all the workouts in during the week.  Missed Sat, so did Sat's bike/run today.  Time to put the IM hat back on.  I honestly don't know how you working peeps get all these workouts in every week.  It gave me a new perspective on trying to juggle work, IM training and family responsibilities!  Tough.

  • nope haven't divorced the saddle yet, just will look for new roads! 8 weeks out ! it is my 5th saddle! since the Fall. the chip and seal did a number on me, took a rest day today. and walked the dog... in a full sweat just doing that and did some drills with him on the leash. he was a good sport about it. he is back in from college and now staying with us a week so now workouts need to include a walk/run with the dog early morning! just cleaned my bike another sweaty workout in the garage! with Rudy looking on, barking at me if I didn't look at him. anyways, chillaxing this Sunday with various regular chores.

right now I need to do my RR next Wed July 28th so analzying the next 1.4 week workouts for any changes. will be in Dallas, thur - Sunday so hardly any workouts after the RR so? I am trying to get both long runs in and last week did one on a Tuesday so might try to run longer earlier in the week to get one in this week and one in next week which would allow a shortish run while down in Dallas out of the hotel. then on riding, I gotta "ease" back into it... and this past Sat rode 2:45 and not the 4 hours and this Sat is 4.5 hours and then the following WED ride 112? dont' think I like that either.. so gonna back up my long ride also to perhaps this WED - Friday. I note the swims seemed to have jumped up in yardage, considering that I eased back into swimming last week too, so now my lake swims seems to be at 3 laps which means I gotta find a buddy who wants to do that. got two who can swim 2 with me. anyways scheming here... so pardon. got ice pack on my left knee right now. it isn't swollen but definitely can see a bulge. if you look.

and I am making mental note to take 2 - 3iron per day to get that to budge off a low 12!! new bike shoe stitching is loose!! so had been rubbin my ankle sore... so gotta get that resolved too! 8 weeks is race day! plenty of time to sort it all out.

meanwhile the temps here are very hot. the 112 mile or even a 6 hour bike ride. basically anything past 11 is stinkin hot. unless an unusual cloud cover comes upon us. so will have to be on wheels by 5:45 a.m. for long rides and then the brick run, well even in the shade, it is quite sluggish. At this point, with this heat? I am gonna skip the long 1 hour brick run and put that to a regular bike interval due to heat. I have ran 1 hour just this year in 100 degs after a 4 hour ride and honestly, it is walking with running in the shade! my other summers I have done the brick workouts so I know I can do them.

    thoughts on my rambling? m
  • Did my usual hilly Sunday morning ride, 50 miles in 3 hrs. I was on the road bike and just felt better overall.
Since I did the chores yesterday, today was REST! I went to the local lake and laid on the beach reading! This is NOT my idea of fun at any other time except during IM training.
Back to reality in the morning.
  • It has been a rough week. I still managed to get the long run in on Thursday with the nasty heat and humidity. Friday I went ahead a nd tested in the water-nothing changed for me there. Saturday I was not able to get out the door first thing in the morning due to my kids swim meet. I did hit the road at about 11:00. The ride felt good managed to get 4 hours in and not loose any SAUs. Sunday,s ride was good for the 1st hour & half the last half was hard work to keep the watts up. My legs really felt tired at the end. Keep up the good work everyone.
