Coming To Support The Team
I just found out I have that weekend off so I'm taking a couple extra days and am coming to WI to cheer and support the team. I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you! Does anyone know how many other team members are coming to spectate? I'm also planning to do a couple of rides so hopefully I can tag along with some of you guys (and chickas ) since I don't really know the area.
I'll keep monitoring this thread and the rest of the forum so I can stay in the loop.

There should be quite a few spectators, myself included. I'm volunteering as bike handler Sunday morning and then will spectate the rest of the day. I would definitely be up for a ride on Saturday.
I am riding the course both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I am going to ride the course as hard as I can. Sunday I intend to do the course backwards to spectate and get some work in by doing repeats just off the course on the horribly hilly hundreds climbs.
I'm hoping to come... just need to secure a place to stay (if anyone on this thread has a spare bed or cot or couch...). If all goes well, my plan is to arrive Friday and leave Monday afternoon (hopefully with a registration for 2011 in hand). When I know that I have a place to sleep I will sign up to volunteer - hoping to get a spot body marking handing out water on the swim or something on the early side so I can run that day.
If I can rent or borrow a bike, I'd be absolutely game for a ride on Sat... also hoping to swim, but I'm hearing that there won't be marked swims this year like there have been in years past on the morning before... I think it's just a swim at your own risk without buoys... Sun I'd like to run while athletes are riding so I can be in the tent at mile 18 cheering and dancing . . . I'd say with Coach R, but I know what he'll be wearing so I might just keep my distance.
Totally insane!
"We love you spectators/
oh, yes, we do. . . "
And I have a whole box of pink visors, if anyone is looking for a special spectator accessory. Order up!
For the EN boyz who are spectating...Who is MAN enough to sport a pink speedo?!
I'm doing a second order on them soon. Coach P is in. I know there are many, many EN beefcake doodes who would look FABULOUS in one.
PM me with your swimsuit size and you can be part of EN Chica IMMoo history!
@Kitima, Bill should be up for a pink speedo. If he did the marathon challenge in a speedo, he should be man enough to wear a pink speedo on with the rest of the boyz!!
I most likely will be going down solo... sooooo I am also looking for a place to stay. Floors are fine, couches are better, I just don't want to sleep in my car again....
@ Josh - I think I have a proposition for you...
I've been wanting to come myself (to cheer and register for next year...) and I think Michele Moreno just made that possible... we've chatted about splitting a hotel room (she has the details - Best Western a few blocks from the run course) on Sat and Sun... and you'd be welcome to share - couch, floor, air mattress...whatever!
I'm gonna get airfare now and then sign up to volunteer (if I can get a morning spot - so I can train while the bike is going on and cheer while folks are running) so I can get a good spot in line on Monday morning... yay!!!
my personal email is rah.2774@gmail.com -- so we can all coordinate.
did I mention Michele is a rockstar? she is!!!
Hotel room has been reserved. It's the best western Inntowner, on University Ave. It's 2.5 miles from Monona Terrace. Space available in the room if you want it, Josh.
My email is michele@madcitymulti.com
I'm working T1 and then hitting the course to support friends until midnight.
Is there a standard EN "uniform" for supporters during the race?
@Kitima - Since I live here and I have 15 students volunteering, I'm gonna pass on the Speedo...I don't need pictures of that floating around the College!
@Martin - definitely game for a ride on Saturday. There's a volunteer meeting that morning (I think from 8-9), after that I'm game. Tracy Wood is also up for it (she's training for a half full and I've got IMFL to think about)... this is all dependent on Michele's bike fitting me and I'm cautiously optimistic it will! Oh, I should add a caveat, that if the chicas/EN racers head out for an OWS that morning, I'd like to do that (1 loop) then ride...
My assigned shift is bike check out from 8-10pm. so I'll be able to cheer all day until I have no voice. FWIW, I'll have my red 4 keys shirt and hopefully the EN Chicas shirt I just ordered from cafe press to go with my pink chicas visor (Beth started a thread with some duds you can pick up... )

This is going to be a BLAST!!!
I'm in.
great idea, I'm in too!
@Matt - could you coordinate? You seem to know the area well.
