Hi Barbara, hope your ear infection is getting better. I was fighting not to make my cold worse, and finally felt better yesterday in the sun. It's been cool here again in the 50~60's, and I think my body was sort of frozen and longing for some heat. Can't wait to get to Louisville.
I was wondering if I need to pack a floor pump in my suitcase, or is it available at bike tech, or somewhere on the race morning. Do you guys all pack yours?
Yasko, I bring a pump when I drive but not when I fly. With 2,000+ type A triathletes in one place you won't have trouble borrowing some air from someone else.
Looks like we will get poached in swim with bath temperature water and get fried on the roads this Sunday.
Last Sunday I did a hard 50 min open water swim in ~80 degree water and did a sweat test to see the impact. I lost water at a rate of 63 oz per hour!!!!! SO I am starting the hard part of the event down >4lbs of H20. I will hydrate (and salt tabs) more before the swim knowing this and down a full bottle of something cold in T1. This is going to be some kind of adventure!!!!
Holy cow! I better take some salt tabs before the swim, and down some Perform or Gatorade! It's called take it easy and don't overdo too fast. Yasko, I am driving down and bringing my bike pump. We can talk Fri. at the iamtri get together, and perhaps you can ride w/me to the transition on Sun. a.m. You can use my bike pump, which my friend Marcia will take from me when I line up at the swim. Anyone else who wants to be in transition when I am, is welcome to use the pump. Am getting psyched and excited, yet scared of the unknown, since this is my first IM. Can't wait to meet all of you! Travel safe everyone!!!
Meant to say Thurs. at the EN get together. However, if you aren't yet part of iamtri, go sign up with the IMLOU group and come to the Fri. afternoon gathering at Sully's at 3:30. Go to iamtri and sign up. Everyone is welcome! It is a great group, and Bob Baney has got tables for over 100 people for the banquet. Patrick, you should come to Sully's on Fri. as well!
