Dam Status - Bladder 3 lifted into place on 25 August. It takes 2 weeks to install all the bolts, but they are on track. 30,000 lbs of debris have been removed from the lake bottom. We'll probably have the cleanest water in the history of the event.
Racer ready to roll.....livin' the dream.
did the 3 x1mile as a 5km TT, since i didn't get to do it last week: Vdot 53 (equal to fastest it has been for me). thought about stopping at 0.5mile to go, but kept hammering!
12 weeks to improve.
later today is the swim for me. T-pace is 1:46min/100yrds (fastest it has ever been for me). 12 weeks to improve.
167.0lbs. 12weeks to improve.
safe training to all.

Have the opportunity for open water swim 2.4 mile distance in Boulder, am thinking of doing without the wetsuit as an added test, water temp between 68-70, air temp will be cold in the am, about 40, any thoughts?
That's a long time to swim in water that cold. Why do you want to do this? (I would never do it.)
Well, started because my friend from masters swim is doing it without a wetsuit for the hardcore factor, and I thought it might be fun to try and since AZ is supposed to be such a cold swim would be good for my confidence????
Then again, since my friend is solely a swimmer who competed in college and I am NOT maybe this is not such a great idea......hence the need for EN smart people feedback, so think I'll pack the suit
@ Stacy - I'm with Al...why suffer needlessly. You are going to race in a wetsuit, so might as well train in it.
Stacy - I just saw you are in New Castle. I'm in Snowmass for the next two weeks, and will be doing a fair amount of training not only on the roads up here, but also along the Rio Grande Trail from Glenwood to Basalt. I'm planning a race rehearsal ride (for Kona) on Sept 12th, and would normally just go up and down the Roaring Fork and Fryingpan Valleys. Is there any way to get a decent ride going west from Glenwood, at a lower elevation?
P
@Al, Paul, and Coach P....Roger that will wear my wetsuit!
@Al.....Snowmass for two weeks, that sounds awesome! So don"t know if you have done the Rio Grande trail but it can be hard to stay aero sometimes if the path gets busy, just my experience but if you ride early am you should be okay.
If you start in Glenwood there is about 7 mile section with no frontage road so you are riding on I-70 through winding South canyon towards New Castle, people do it but can be sketchy (if you ride the 12th though there is Glenwood Tri going on that morning and the course goes from GWS west to Canyon creek and back so you could tie it to be on that stretch of 70 during the race where they alert traffic, etc......and then you would just be on your own going back East......just a thought.
You can start in Glenwood and ride all the way back up valley to Aspen with a detour along frying pan in Basalt and then another detour up towards Snowmass, and a third towards Maroon bells, then make you way to Aspen and back to Snowmass, but this is not really much lower elevation GWS area, but would not involve driving or 170......
Another option which would involve a drive through Glenwood canyon would be start in Avon (Beaver Creek) and ride west to Dotsero, then back to Avon, about 75 miles and can stash water bottles along the road as you drive to Avon. And to add another 30+ miles just go back to Eagle from Avon again......not as scenic or hilly but easier to stay aero and good for the mental toughness with elevation about 6000-6700 the entire ride.
Let me know what you think and I can certainly help you map out your RR for Kona!
@chuck, I think taking a day off if you body calls for it is pretty smart. Like others here have said, sometimes it really hard to get out of bed and get moving. This is my first IM too, so I can totally identify with you
