  • Michele and Nemo- Would you guys mind a third party for dinner Wed night? I will be up there Wed. eve by myself (family isn't coming up until Friday after school)
  • Eric - Two visors reserved for you.

That was a nice short long run, wasn't it? Got mine done at lunch. Seven miles. Yeah. I can use a few more days of taper.

    Anyone have ideas?

    Hey Kathy,

I just bought the best adapter after having issues with my own. A friend lent me his on a group ride and it was so easy to use. Screws right on the tire valve and also has it's own valve for releasing the CO2. No gas escapes. It's really great.

    Hope this helps.

    Matt

Thanks Matt, I will look into it.  Looks like there is a dealer close by!!

  • I think I got mine at Amazon.

  • @Kathy,

Without knowing what type of adapter you have... in most of the threaded screw on ones that are of the nano/micro-inflator style (where you just screw the infator head right onto a C02 cartridge) you have to screw the head all of the way down THEN back turn a quarter of a turn. The 1/4th turn may not be exact, but when you back turn you should hear it pressure up and the cartridge get cold.

Thanks Trevor and Matt- actually got mine to work.  But really Matt that Red Zeppelin looks like the one to get.  If I had not just spent $20 for mine, I prolly would invest in it...maybe I still will down the road.  For now think I will use the one I have.  And yes Trevor it is a nano type inflator.  I discovered I did not have the presta valve in far enough...seems to work now.  Thanks guys!

  • Eric. Sure. The more the merrier
  • Let's make it a "team" dinner Wednesday? I arrive around 4 and would love to have dinner with someone other then me, myself, and I.

I'm in for that! I get in at 11:30am and will be reassembling the bike in the afternoon. Michele, are you staying at Homewood?

Work SUCKED massively this week. In combination with taper, it took all of my will power to buy ONLY 2 containers of ice cream tonight at the grocery store.  Good news is that all the massage, ART, foam rolling, digging out of knots and rocks in muscles is finally leaving my legs feeling really fresh.

  • I would love a purple silly cow if there is one left.....I didn't get my addy on the list and hated to ask for one.

I'm driving the course on Friday for a friend who hasn't ridden or driving it yet. If anyone wants to join me, my cell 612-860-6878. Feel free to text or call. Not sure what time yet, sometime in the afternoon but before dinner. Not sure if I'm going to athlete dinner or not. I have gone and it was inspirational but I'm not up for a big dinner on Friday night. Suppose it depends on what Kathy wants to do. Kathy....you need the total Ironman experience!!!

@G--you know I have issues with the EN taper, and you know I have gotten not-so-nice blow back about it. I think one of the stoopidest things I have done was to follow the plan last week to the letter. I was still in "training mindset" when I should have listented to myself more.  I am EXHAUSTED, headache-y. I need to get over this fatigue hump, and fast. I'm so mad at myself for not doing it my way from last week on. Day off for me today, then I'm playing it by ear from here on out. Hope it's not too late.... Kicking, kicking, kicking myself!

I'm with you sista!  I look at it as a guideline and dropped into chat room Mon to see what Rich identified as the key stuff- not  worrying about the rest.  With Coach P in town and 3 days of nothing but IMLOU stuff,  organized schedule went out the window.  Plenty busy and moving so I did GET a workout!  Monday took off as recovery (in after midnight and up to work early next am).  Dropping one of the swims due to local pool being closed (next closest adds 45-50 mins to commute- figure sleep more important at this stage).  Think that while it's the coaches responsibility to produce a solid schedule, it's still my responsibility as an athlete to determine what my body is saying (not my mind or stomach which keeps craving baaadddd stuff).  Can't help but feeling running ourselves into the ground for the sake of following "The plan" could not be something RnP want for us.

That being said... off to sleep! Swimming in the morning!

  •  I'm just jealous of all of you.....

I live 2 hours away, and yet can't make it there before Friday am - soooo frustrating. oh well. enjoy yourselves, and be saif now

Hasan!  You are driving from Chicago right?  My daughter and her boyfriend are driving from Sandwich, IL sometime on Friday.  I am really hoping they make it in on time to attend the dinner and see the energy!!!!

  •  Sheryl, I never knew there WAS a sandwich, IL!!!!!

Do they need a ride? I should be leaving Friday am - really early; probably early enough to try to make it for the swim ;-) but definitely in time for the 4Keys talk. just no team dinner (s) for me.......

oh, well.... I guess i'll have to get team drinks on Sunday night ;-)

  • Hasan I'm about a 2-2.5 hour drive away from Madison too, although from the opposite direction. Very fortunate to just people to hop in my car and show up with my gear. I was also originally not able to get there until Friday, but I ended up getting Thursday off as well.

Quick report, it is/going to be pretty chilly this weekend in the Midwest. Water temps in Lake Monona are currently 73 degrees and dropping. In the cold vs hot debate I'm personally all about the cold. I'm officially starting to get nervous about the race, not in a bad way, but its really hitting home. I was still pretty mich in the 2-weeks away mindset until very recently, now everytime I think about the race I get butterflies in my stomach. Keep dreaming about it at night. It's a strange but exciting feeling.
  • re: Wednesday dinner, since we'll have a smaller group we could definitely do Weary Traveler.  Or could do a Japanese restaurant, Edo Garden, which has excellent sushi but also lots of other entrees on the menu.  Let me know if any of the Wednesday night peeps have special requests, and I can give other suggestions.

I feel like 50% of my posts on this forum are for restaurant suggestions in Madison!

  • Please add Joanna and I to the Wednesday night dinner crew!

Hassan, There is a Plano and a Sandwich.....there were a group of people at one time who wanted to incorporate a town between called Bologna so that it would be Plano, Bologna, Sandwich.....

The kids should have their own car and honestly....if you aren't already hyped up enough, my ADD daughter would make you crazy.  Only her boyfriend can stand it for very long at a time....we love her but lot of energy there....

Drive safe!!! See you at the talk!

And we love you for that Michele!!!

Easy call for me- Edo Garden.  Both Joe and I love Sushi and I will get big SAUs by taking him to a recommended place with good sushi.

  • 2nd vote for Edo Garden as well!

X2 on what Kris said!!  Michele you have been so helpful, always willing to go the extra mile for us IMWI peeps with restaurant suggestions, helping out with rally, offering to kayak the swim and a gazillion other details Im not aware of.  So, thanks Michele you have been and are a blessing!

  • 3rd vote for Edo Garden.

Michele---I LOVE that >50% of your posts are about restaurants! Girls gotta eat yummy food!!

So a very important item on the pre-race checklist got done today: Pedicure! The pink toenail polish matches the pink speedo and visor perfectly!
  • I've got a serious case of endorphine withdrawl going on right now. I'm crawling out of my skin trying to talk myself out of going for an hour rin this afternoon. The hurricane sorta screwed up all the training (and frankly, while I'm dying to run, I'm also tired from all the stress it brought). The roads are likely going to be still messy tomorrow so I don't think I'll get in that 2.5 hour ride. So I'll probably do the 70 min run tomorrow, swim Sun, and do the brick on Monday. Or whatever, I don't know. All I know is I need a fix bad!

Back AWAY!!! All you need is to turn your ankle on something washed up on the road!

  • @Nemo - I feel your pain girl, nothing worse than being denied an endorphin rush. Hang in there, I can say no more because no words can cure an endorphin withdrawal. Have a glass of wine and put your feet up (that's always my solution).

@Kitima: didn't even occur to me to do ENC Pink for my pedicure ('cause I have IM brain at this point). I guess you all know where you can find me and my daughter tomorrow afternoon!!!

  • I soooo wish we were coming up Wed & could play with you all that evening.

Michele- What everyone else said. You (again) have really gone above & beyond!!

I will be doing the pink pedi Sunday!!

  • PINK PEDI TOMORROW (I hope) but for sure before I hit Madison.

@Kitima- I am staying at Hotel Ruby Marie, near Monona Terrace/ capital area

@Michele M.- You are spot on with food recommendations. We'd all follow you around like the Pied Piper, any where!

@Nemo- Endorphin rush needed- Earle wasn't enough? Oh wait, that's adrenaline and not always as fun ;-) Be safe, what ever you do. Max is glad to hear you and Joe are safe (sorry, he was less interested in Otto and Lily).

After 2 days of feeling icky, I awoke feeling great. Decided to do the 70 minute run rather than the swim, ROI and all. Hit the paces and was flying easily. Tried to picture the race and feeling that good (as if). Looking at a drainer ride tomorrow as I think the roads may be full of sticks and that is what caused my last crash.

@Hasan- I requested the time off a year in advance!

    Be safe all!
