International Races in 2010 - who's doing what?
To kick off the Intl Group - what races you guys doing this year?
I'm doing the UK 70.3 in June, a few local UK races before and after and then ramping it up to do IMCoz in November.
Know JC is doing 70.3 Germany - anyone doing Lanzarote in May?? Thinking about it for 2011...........
Be good to get some Euro/ International race reviews on here (old & new), may tempt the EN'ers from over the pond!
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Guys ,
I live in South Africa . My A race is Iron Man South Africa 25th April 2010 . At the moment I am the only South African with EN , there was another guy in Cape Town but he never replied when I tried to contact him . I do find it difficult being in a different time zone and experiencing totally different weather conditions . A pain cave is something we do not need over here as most days even winter days are sunny days .
I am already into week 4 of the Iron Man program . Distances are getting longer but I am doing OK . In South Africa we do not have all the fancy gadgets readily available and I either have to shop around or import stuff . It is very expensive to import so most of the time I just make do with what I have .
On the 14th March I am riding the ARGUS CYCLE TOUR . It is the biggest TIMED cycle race in the world >35000 cyclist ! This year Lance Armstrong will be joining us . We ride around table mountain 105km of beautiful scenery . I do it for fun and just hope to survive ! Will tell you how it went ........
I know quite a few dealers & bike stores over here in the UK so do let me know if you can't source anything in SA - may be able to point you in the right direction perhaps.
Good luck with your training - keep us all posted on how it goes - the training and the race; are you targetting a finish time?
Dave
Hi Dave ,
Will let you know as I am trying to start a virtual shopping site selling tri gear . Our custom tax is very high so they make things difficult for us . I always try to get a podium finish . I have won my age group before and been to Kona , would like to go again . I am trying for somewhere between 10h45 and 11h15 .....would be GREAT ! Holding thumbs for a good run .
I'm a little bit late ) to the thread (well, full two months) but still on time to wish Tina a great race next Sunday, with a great run in it.
To answer the original question, I'm in Spain, and just had a baby three weeks ago... so my goals are modest this season. I'll be doing the Challenge Barcelona (that's a half-IM distance race) which is just an hour drive from where I live, and then local olympic races, just for the fun of it. If the training goes OK this summer, I'll try another half-IM local distance race, as there are a few in Spain come September and October.
And for the next years, I want to do an Ironman race each summer, and take it as a holiday... and I am thinking Nice, Copenhagen (challenge race), Germany, Austria, Switzerland... whichever is best for the family.
Best regards from sunny Spain,
Jaime
IM doing Nice this year, it will be my first IM. Bringing the wife and going to make a vacation out of it. Made it easier to justify to the wife hehe
I am scheduled to do IM Switzerland on July 25th, still trying to figure out how to carry my bicycle, (From North Carolina ) any ideas out there?
Fernando
This is my first day. My name is Chad. I live in Hong Kong. I'm 29 years old, married, father of two kids (4 years old, 8 months old).
My "A" race is Ironman 70.3 Taiwan.
I have the opposite problem as Tina. It is bloody dangerous to ride outside in Hong Kong, so I skulk to my trainer for my rides.
Cheers,
Chad
Danish championships (oly & half), June & Aug 2011
I can highly recommend some of the new races from the Challenge Family, specifically the full distance events in Barcelona (actually Callela) and Copenhagen, and their half distance event in Kraichgau, Germany. Send me a message if you want detailed reviews (my race reports) from this or last year.
I'd really like to hear about the Barcelona race, Adam. It's on my 'to do' list for the next 5 years, and the destination gets huge SAUs from my better half.
Better yet, would you be willing to do a '100 questions' for the race, using the format from http://endurancenation.us.dnnmax.co...fault.aspx ? If so, just cut and paste your answers, and it's one more to add to the team resources!
- Singapore 70.3 (March 20th) - my "home" race
- IM Regensburg (August 7th) - my "vacation" race
@Adam - have you done Singapore before, it's my home race so any info you need let me know (get ready for the heat!).
Cheers
@Dave: will try to work on the 100 questions for Barcelona over the next few weeks
@Kevin: I did Singapore in 2009 on a whim when I found out the race overlapped with a business trip. Registered like two weeks before, had no idea what to do about a bike (I couldn't travel with one). Hooked up with some folks from the Triathlon Family forum who helped me out big time! It was a bit of a fluke, but I somehow won my AG. Good people, great experience!
@Paul - best of luck at IMAZ, not that I don't want you to do Regensburg but hope you get your slot! Going to be a great break - we are doing 2 weeks through Italy and France after the race.
