  • Yup. Blue bracelet on.

And I just hurt my hand carrying in four bags of stuff from Target. Maybe my body does need a little more rest. Although yoga class last night felt good.

  • I'm swimming on Monday but for the most part I've been in rut this week Feeling so much better this weekend. I had such a great time with you all!!! I have to get on food program tomorrow. So excited to get started for Texas!!! Can't wait to see you all!!!

    Swim? Swim?! What's that?

I've had some urges to jump on my mountain bike, but I've come home from work every night and passed out on the couch. There's this ginormous fruit and custard tart that I've been saving as my reward for this IM. I finally have my appetite back so I'm going to Wegman's to get it tomorrow. I shall eat the whole thing then pass out with the crumbs all over me. That is my plan for Saturday.

Trevor, I still have my blue wrist thingy on. It's going to stay on until it rots off. I'm still so stinkin' happy about the race I can't bear to take it off.

BTW, Do you guys just LURVE the finisher shirt?! Best Mdot/IM I've seen ever! Love the big wheel of cheese on the back.

Kit- u always crack me up   Oh and I would love my finisher shirt and usually I get these ginormous shirts that I can't wear...well this time got a small,,,,but it is too short   My brain was mush at the finish line...so this woman is holding up shirt sizes and I just was not in a position to be able to choose between s and m...so yeah, chose the wrong size....dang it!

Haha, the pool! I swam very few times leading up to the race (shhhh!) and was just thinking how amusing it was that I might actually have to swim for execise if I can't do any running or biking for a while. It made me sad. I think most of us joined EN just so someone could say that it was ok that we didn't have to swim

Jennifer- after reading your RR, I was shocked to learn u hadn't swum much!!  Well I would say u probably don't need to after finishing 2.4 miles without swim training!!  I'm with you though, really enjoyed not swimming in the OS for 20 weeks.  I like to swim, but in the middle of the winter, the OS swim ban was very very nice.  I felt like I didn't miss it at all.  Will def not swim during OS this year as well.

  • The head cold has really kicked me to the curb. Was on call yesterday & worked until 1am, so to say the least, I feel like I have a dart in my neck.

Took new MTB to be fitted today, unfortunately the achilles is still bothering me & it hurts to pedal. I may be forced to swim some, much to my dismay. I will be good though & stand down to let this thing heel up.

I had a moment yesterday when I was going to sign up for IMFL 2011. OK, a few moments. My need for redemption is STRONG. Not gonna do it though.

  • @Trevor- I was wearing my wrist band but had to cut it off for massage on Wednesday. I was very torn but the massage was totally worth it.

@Nemo and Beth- I have also been thinking about what to do. It seems too early to stop racing. The Cape Cod Marathon is Halloween. I am seriously considering doing it. Even though I have no intention of running until later this week. I was looking for century rides to do in the next month. I don't want play time to be over.

Swam and biked today, probably same tomorrow. But I had to take a nap before I could go shopping, I was whooped. So still not back to normal energy. Shocked to see I am still below race weight. Would love to stay here, but I love food too much.

  • 1. do not pass your cooties to me!! I am not sick and don't wanna be!
    2. Defintely have had a mushy brain though.
    3. back up to normal weight and it didnt' take long, maybe I shoulda been sick!? lol
    4. Rode bike 18 miles on Friday in 1.5 hours!!! leisurely Ladies Ride with a bagel stop.
    5. Raced Mt bike race yesterday morning and camped the night before with daughter!
    6. Not really here, ya know what I mean, my mind is stll on last weekend, either out on the course or just with y'all. definitely miss you. I think that is why the let down is harder, cuz for 12 weeks we shared our tng and got to know each other.
    7. Which is exactly why me, (and Sheryl) are recruiting for IM TX Sherpas!! May 21, The Woodlands, outside of Houston! when is TofC?? y'all can stop in on your way back from there! or do the Community Fund slot. like Sheryl, I am excited for this race.
    8. I am going to do the Big Dam Bridge century ride next Saturday with other buds and we are wearing our cow spotted kits!! there are shorter mileage options and familiar roads so no thinking required and yes hilly so I should pop off the back pretty easy! No, I won't be physically ready but it is quite the popular tour and starts in my neck of the woods, "everybody" will be doing it.
    9. I have 2 or 3 more Mt bike races, I am a beginner and been riding since last Nov. on a team cuz I recruited the fast chicks and the team scores points for wins in Cat 2 and Cat 1!
    10. Thinking about starting up P90X, still need to order as it will conclude with my BFF Heather's wedding! I am also feeling like a dough girl!
    ****
I am NOT doing a marathon. My IT bands flare up past mile 18. out of 5 IM, 4 I have had issues. this is a problem. My bike still needs work and I have to get some energy out there too!

  • K guys and gals in EN land....it is Sunday morning and a week ago we were in the water in Lake Monona!!  Gettin ansy here...gonna start working out tomorrow

When I woke up Monday, my tongue was white and my entire mouth hurt. It is now Thursday night and some foods still make my mouth burn like fire. The dehydration really ravaged things. I am no longer sore. I had a 2 hr massage last night and feel fantastic. But I sleep 8-10 hrs a night still. So I know exercise is not indicated.

I miss you all. And agree with Gina- my heart is full.

Michelle, so weird, I have raw spots all over my mouth.  Couldn't figure it out.  I, too, had a 2 hour Himalayan massage at Aveda.  It was soooooo wonderful!!!!    I've been enjoying my cruiser bike this past week.  Swimming tomorrow!!!!

  • Did a 30 min trainer ride today on the road bike (WHAT is that???) Legs felt suprisingly good, although the achilles is still sore. Then some good sore work. Going to PT tomorrow for some cold laser therapy.

If the leg allows I would like to do a late season half mary.

TRAINER?! Oh no you didn't!!  I really hope that Achilles settles down soon---there's a BEE-YOO-tiful mtb that's waiting for you to ride it.

Update on consumption of the fruit tart: I couldn't finish the whole thing! I only got halfway through and had to stop. Poor pacing. I didn't stay in my box. I really hit the Line, felt very full in my stomach...just had no One Thing to help me push through the glazed fruit, vanilla custard, and shortcake crust.  So I stood down and finish the rest of it this morning for breakfast. A strong finish I think.

I'm going for a casual ride tomorrow morning with the DH. Then we're going to do Kev's Mtb Academy in the Driveway. He sets up obstacles for me to practice my balancing and bike handling skills at really, really slow speeds. There will be a refresher course in how to pop wheelies too. We're going on a mtb trip to central PA in 2 weeks and I need to get my dirt legs back.

  • Crap! The above post is from Kitima!! Must remember to check who's signed into EN now that the DH is in Da Haus...
  • Kevin is in Da Haus?? AWESOME!!! Kitima- sounds like you are getting ready for the next Dessert Team Time Trial- I like it!

Gina- a trainer ride? Are you ill?

I rode for the first time since the race today. On my beach cruiser. Rode to the beach, checked out the Igor surf, road to the hardware store to pick up a few items, then rode home. Done.

I did put the headlight on my road bike this afternoon so I can ride this week. I'd like to get back in the saddle again- even if it's just to re-establish a little healthy routine.

Gina- I'm with you- there's a Half Mary here in November that I think I might do if my legs feel OK.
  • Skipped the swim this morning. I was exhausted still. I finally went out for almost 2 hours on the road bike, but was good and easy most of the time. And while I was out there I was doing the whole, "...1 week ago at this time I was ...." Totally miss all of you!

So Kitima, I am guessing Kevin really gets it after seeing everything last weekend? I knew that post was from you as I read about the dessert. Glad you paced yourself and then brought it home later!

Can't decide what to do with myself in the morning before work. I need some structure. Guess I'd better get some.

You guys had me confused!! Only did the trainer to test out the achilles- plus it was 95 freakin degrees here !!

  • Drainer ride? Seriously crazy. Somebody take Gina's temperature.

    Woo-hoo! Kevin in the haus!

I realized my muscles are still tweaked out. I hurt my hand carrying in a few bags from Target yesterday. Looking forward to being a yoga bum next week. But I really, really miss my running shoes and am kinda sad I left the roadie at my sister's house. But I'm on a strict no powermeter/no Garmin until at leat the end of September mission.

And trying to decide between the Hot Chocolate 5k or 15k for November.

  • Welcome Kevin! Glad to have you aboard!

I rode alittle over hour Wed night- too lazy to do anything to bikes so rode tri bike, race wheels, IM sticker and all (what a geek eh???) Legs felt good to get going but this dog gone cold has really taken a huge bite. Sore throat on Mon, congestion, then super tight feeling in chest till about Saturday. Rode 2 hrs today in sunshine on the road bike. Man that felt good and wore me out! Spent rest of afternoon catching up reading 2-3 mons worth of Triathlete, Cooking Light and Bicycling mags. Appetite came back Friday so went for pizza today and choc cake (not a DB worth Choc cake but good!)

Bourbon Chase relay up next mid Oct then Goofy Challenge early Jan (all part of the evil keep the IM post weight creep away!)

Ok - Leigh, Beth etal.... I need some fun costume ideas for Bourbon Chase and Halloween tri club party..... thoughts?
