Week 22, still recovering....
well ya know we have to hang close to get Matt thru his Kona race!!! besides I miss y'all.
Monday: me and Rudy are excited to go for a short, easy run. traditionally I wait to today to go run. and yes it doesn't ever feel good but it is enjoyable!! I rested yesterday due to mt bike race the day before.... and cuz I am on a team and wanted to see them, is the reason why I raced!!! ha. I have stll been tired and normally this is a 3 week process of recovery and even more before at full 100%. I hope this week that my brain is not so mushy!! m

My big focus this week is to try to get to 3 Yoga classes within the week. That's my personal challenge!
Couple nice walks this past week...no running for me until later on this week...and very slow
I'm way behind on posting to the forums and need to get a race simulation report posted. After proving my fitness and pacing ability on the first one, the goal this time was to focus on getting fuilds in and that I did. 180oz of H20 + 40oz of Infinit on the bike and 32oz of H20 and 16oz of IM Perform during the run...thats about 16 lbs of fuild in. With all that I lost only 1.8 lbs after 6 full hours and both my bike and run times were almost the same as last time!
I kicked off my "taper" with a hour on the treadmill, no fan, and long sleeve shirt. Pulled off 3 x 1 mi at 5:40 pace for 9.3 miles in 60'. Drank 48oz of water and still lost 3 lbs. Pool and steam room tonight.
I've been feeling pretty good as of late, really bounced back quick from getting sick last week, much quicker than I do in-season, guessing the extra rest helped with that. It was cold and dreary here in Iowa over the weekend but I got a ~1.5 hour ride in on my CompuTrainer last night just watching football and some ErgVideo. I don't think I've ever been so happy to be riding a trainer, it just felt good to be moving my legs and getting active again.
I have *no* idea what my next year is going to look like race-wise and I'm really hesitant to sign up for anything because I also have *no* idea where I'm going to be living, thinking seriously about moving this winter. But, I'm actually really looking forward to starting the OS, need to keep active to keep myself sane. I've also been talking myself out of signing up for the Goofy challenge, I've done the WDW half (my first half), then full (first mary) and in theory would love to go back and hit up Goofy this year, but just doesn't sound like the smartest idea rest-wise to me. May hit up the coaches on that.
Been keeping up with Matt on twitter, sure he's gonna rock it as always.
Turned the corner on the head cold yesterday!! Much better by the afternoon. I am starting to get itchy to exercise, but still going to baby my achilles. PT this afternoon. Made reservations for Feb bike trip to the Big Island!!
Matt -- Excellent work on hydration! I am sure it will pay off at Kona. Hm. Maybe all your heat acclimation will make taper interesting enough to not have you crawling all over the walls.
Nemo -- I have the same yoga goal! Looking forward to six a.m. class tomorrow morning.
And yes, still tired. I didn't realize post-Ironman week(s) would make me this tired -- but I'm enjoying all the time for sketching new plans!
Still battling this cold--a full week now, but somewhat better today. Didn't tell anyone, but Keith knew that on Sat. before the race I felt like I was "coming down with something." Sunday morning I felt the same, but just could not go there on race day, and put it completely out of my mind (none of this is mental, right?). Last Monday woke up sick, and it still lingers.
Swam easy with my master's group today. Went more for the friendship and the social aspect than anything else. Cannot even tell you how much I swam.
Chest mucscles hurt from the fall, so I got out when I felt it wise. Looking forward to getting on my road bike this weekend--no PM, no nuthin'. Fall riding in NE is my plan.

Go in and out of being very bummed then resigned about the crash. This is not an easy place to be. I'll work it out...
Oh, and my weight is dropping like a stone. All that training, all those miles, and I couldn't move an ounce. A week of doing nothing, and eating normally, and down it goes. What's with that? Do you think during training, it's all extra fluid and waste products being carried around your system that keeps on those few lbs.? Don't get it.
Ran for first time today- whooping 30 mins. Felt good while running- could use a nap now :-)
Sheryl- LOL !!! He sounds like a lovable curmudgeon. Our P90* is enroute right now, we will be starting by weeks end. It is gonna hurrttttt!!
It did just hurt....I couldn't do all the ab work.....I gotta believe this is going to give me the core I need to hear the words.....
Goals this week- catch up on life stuff (laundry, house, etc). Slated to run a relay this weekend (easy 2-3 miles) and then hoping to get in a hike on Sunday with the girls.
Oh well, maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

Recovering is hard. I just want to get back at it. The only thing I have done is gotten a couple of walks in.

@Al those with head colds- Not sure why that didn't attack me, but then again I was sick the 10 days BEFORE IMWI with a head cold. Been drinking Emergen -C and Nuun since returning.
@Sheryl- I'll have to believe you that it was a compliment. Sounds like the back handed compliments my sisters used to give me, until I became skinnier and fitter then them.
@Nemo- that's crazy pedal action, glad there was no crash involved.
I feel great even with exercising and am back to my normal sleep regimen.
I feel recovered (other than the weird, "what now" blues) & am itching to move again. Unfortunately, the achilles says otherwise
. So, this afternoon I went for a swim & actually enjoyed it. Bottom line, I just want to move my body.
We are starting some core work already & P90* is on the way!!
