The Official IMAZ Admin Thread

Let's get organized for IMAZ!

Enter your information in the Official race spreadsheet

Don't forget to include your bib number, as we'll need this for the Race Tracker on race day.

Submit A Picture And Short Bio (due Tuesday, 11/15)

One of our favorite things to do is send out a "Meet the Team" post before each race via the EN blog. If you'd like to let the rest of the Nation know exactly who they are supporting on line (and help the coaches put faces to names), please send (1) a short bio (think 8-10 sentences) with (2) a nice picture of you, you and fam, you racing, etc. by Tuesday, 11/15 toadmin@endurancenation.us and we'll make you famous!

Friday: Team Dinner, 5:00pm, location Rula Bula

The dinner will be on Friday to ensure that the maximum number of people can attend, given travel plans. We've chosen 5:00p so, if you like, you can also attend some of the pre-race dinner and the athlete's meeting, scheduled for 7:30, I believe.

Menu, $30/person, $10 for kids, your choice of below. Please go the race spreadsheet and indicate what you want and I'll collect the money at dinner. Dinner includes appetizers, non-alchoholic drinks, and desert. Please update your choice by Thursday evening so I can give the count to the restaurant.
  • Glazed Salmon
  • Roasted Chicken
  • Shimp and Pasta

Saturday: Four Keys Talk, 10am, meet at the Powerbar booth in the Expo.

Attendance is mandatory for all TeamEN members. Please RSVP here and invite your friends!

Sunday: RACE DAY

Look for me, the EN Flag, and few other folks on the bike path and/or near the Scottsdale Ave bridge.

Communication During the Weekend
  • If you have a smartphone, please follow @TeamEN on Twitter. Have your family members do the same, as we'll use this to push out updates.
  • Group Texting: also, I'm looking into a group texting service, allowing me to push text messages out to a large group of phone numbers. More details soon.

If I missed anything, please let me know!

Thanks and see you soon!

  • coaches, you know the only time we can swim is sat 9-11AM. any chance of moving four keys talk?
  • So swim is 9-11a and when is bike check in? Could you swim at 9a and we do the talk at 10 or 10:30a? My thoughts are:

    1. You don't need two hours to swim and
    2. The later the talk, the longer you're at the race venue dropping off your bike, etc.

So, in my mind: swim at 9a, talk 10-11a, check your stuff, done by 11:30-12p. The later we push the talk back the larger the footprint of the whole day.

  • great, RnP!

i'll be able to make both team dinner and the 4 keys.  i'll swim 9 to 10am in case the 4 -keys can't be moved.

    GH

  • just got your message most recent message.

    i agree and vote for a 9-9:50am swim and 10am 4 keys.

    Gh

  • Definitely don't want to swim for 2 hours image Just didn't know if we'd go back to the hotel and change and get out stuff for check in before meeting up. I'm down with whatever. Bike check in is 10AM-3PM.
  • Rich,

Are we still doing the family/supporters in the red X/B1 shirts deal?  I have three supporters (i.e. sm, large and x-large) attending the team events/4keys, etc. If free, great! if not, then I'll buy them some, if in-stock, for being willing to be out there for so long for me/us.

    Thanks, G

  • Rich - should we even swim at all on Saturday? I'll be swimming Mon, Wed (short and easy), and Thu (shorter and easier!) before I fly out. If you think it's good just to get in the water I'll do it, but the benefits don't seem to outweigh the hassle. I'll be in the water 10-15 mins before the start on Sunday...is that orientation enough?
  • 2nd @Paul - great question! I'm curious too....
  • @ Saturday Swim: highly individual. It won't make any difference physically, but confidence or whatever is highly individual. Regardless, you want to be very efficient with your time on Saturday. If I were going to swim, would plan to do everything on shot: swim, 4k, check in, done.

@ shirts: I'm bringing whatever we have left to the race and will hand it out at the dinner and the talk. 4k shirts are free for members, $5 each for friends and family.

  • I am going to jump in the water and twiddle around for a little bit on Saturday, but in my spare wetsuit.  I'm really sensitive to cold and cold water so I really want to get a sense of what the temp is going to be like - especially with it being refilled and all.  But it's not a real swim - maybe 15 minutes or so.

I am down for the dinner but will likely not actually eat, as I have food allergies that I don't want to mess with so near race day.  My dad is interested in coming and he'll eat.

Looking forward to the 4 keys talk and meeting everyone!

PS - Rich, when do we hit you up to check out this year's leftover gear?

  • @Rich - is the team dinner Fri or Thurs? Just saw something about Rula Bula on Thurs. Also - would love to wear an EN jersey if available - medium
  • Dave Ambrose and I will be in town Thursday afternoon.  We will be at the Friday dinner and the Saturday swim and 4-Keys talk.  If there is a Thursday meet-up, please post it here with location, time, etc.  Thanks.

I have added myself to the spreadsheet in the supporters section.

    Thanks.

    John

  • Update:

    • Dinner will be at Rula Bula, 5p on Friday. Still working out the details, menu, etc
    • Four Keys Talk will be Saturday, 10am, meet at the Powerbar booth in the Expo. If you Facebook, please RSVP over here and invite your friends.
  • I will have all remaining EN gear at the Friday dinner, "maybe" at the 4k talk if I can get some help with carrying it

  •

    @Rich:  I can help carry.

  • Rich, I am available to help as well. You have my cell phone, call when you get a chance to iron out logistics. Greg

  • T Minus 17 hours until we hit the road. A bonus...The SUV I rented has a DVD system so the dogs can watch the 4 keys DVD on the way to Phoenix.
  • I am getting in on Thursday and looking to do a short (20m or so) on Friday. Anyone up?? I am not going to hammer anything, prob average 15-17mph-ish. Now that I think about it, proably do one bike course loop.
  • @Rich - Just saw the email.  Dave and I will be checking into the Villa on Friday morning sometime.  Here is the URL with all the info. if you still wanna crash with us.  We definitely have room.  image

  • @Chuck......I'm in for the ride, just my speed

@Rich: just entered my info in spreadsheet, am I too late?  Figured I could do it and bio same time, read the deadline as Tuesday?

    Ironman brain I guess.......

  • Just RSVP'd and looking forward to meeting everyone. I'm not racing but am volunteering and did the race back in 2008. It'll be great to see everyone out there tearing it up.

@Rich ~ Anything I can bring for you/team on raceday? I've got one of those 10'x10' canopies that might help to keep the sun off everyone @ mile 18. Coolers, etc? Just lemme know...also would be able to help carry stuff to Rula Bula.
  •  @Chuck G - likel interested on Fri morning.  208-861-1883 cell, staying at Hyatt Place in Mesa.

    Hey Jim,

A canopy for Sunday would be great and, now that I think about it, a hammer so I can bang in the stake for the flag?

All: Lots of bio submissions so thanks for the great response!

  •  You got it!  I'll bring the hammer (so to speak).  Anything else you think of just pass it along.

  • Thursday night is at Rula Bula for all those that haven't heard yet. Don't worry. For those of you going Thursday and Friday, don't worry. That place is cool enough to hang at every night.
  • Saturday ride: Barry Plaga, Pasadena EN member, is bringing my bike out. Rich Sawiris of WB fame is coming out also, with his bike. Anyone up for riding on Saturday? Not really any point to riding the course on Saturday, as it's so urban.

  • Rich - take us on a cool scenic ride on Saturday.  I've never ridden the area and can just imagine the great country roads going out to nowhere traveled my a rare vehicle or two.    See ya Friday!

  • @Terry - are you (or any other peeps) planing to ride a loop of the bike course on Friday?  John Stark and I would love to join ya for a ride.

  • so I am all behind on this thread.  I plan to be in the water at 9am before the 4 keys talk, but should be out and somewhat dried and able to help carry stuff!
