  • Bring it on baby! Smack away, just be ready to receive the little present I'll be tucking in your speedo when I see you ;-)
  •

Nemo, do you think we could get this for you in pink?

  • now THAT would be a sight to see... particularly with a little parasol... nice, Beth!

  • HA HA HA! Now that would work!!!
  • LMAO Beth! ha!
Curious if anyone who is planning to do IMWI in 2011 is thinking of doing 70.3 Kansas? I had thought to do it this year but didn't. I'm thinking it might be a really good idea for training for IMOO.

I did KS and WI last year and thought it was a great combo.  The timing is perfect and the Kansas bike course is actually similar to IMWI.  I would love to do both again, but it's probably not in the budget/SAU account.

  • I'm planning on volunteering in 2011. I'm signed up for the IM Tejas....
  • Well Nemo....if I wore a bikini (quit laughing Kathy!!!!) people would run away so fast there would be massive PR's......hmmmmm
  • I'll likely be there to Sherpa again (racing IMLP), and I'll happily don the bikini if that's what the team needs from me. It's all about doing whatever it takes to get my teammates to the finish line. Maybe some others out there ought to just buck up...there's no "I" in team after all!
  • for those of us registered for next year... I had a random thought and wanted to see what you all think.  I know some of you do fund raising for your races... I typically raise every few years so I don't annoy friends and family too much... next year would be an ON year for me as far as that goes as I took this year off.

Next year IMWI falls on the 10th anniversally of the September 11th attacks... was curious if we all wanted to pick one charity and raise money (perhaps the 9/11 memorial OR the FDNY/NYPD... or the American Red Cross -- all of which were instramental that day... and lots of other days) and make a massive Team EN contribution.  Or perhaps we each raise $$ for our respective local fire or police departments or Red Cross chapter.

Just a thought I've been kicking around.  Definitely open to suggestions... we certainly have lots of time to figure it out (heck, I still have to get through my first IM in a few weeks)...

  • Becky - 2 recommendations:

    1) Challenged Athletes Foundation (Operation Rebound) - this portion of CAF provides assistance to war vets from Afghanistan/Iraq who have had legs/arms blown off. They provide special protheses and modified bikes so they can race triathlons and participate in other sports. I've raced for Operation Rebound twice at the Florida 70.3. Pretty amazing to see these guys remove a fake leg and hop up to the swim start, or swim with one arm, or swim on a tether because they've been blinded.

    2) Special Ops Warrior Foundation - this charity provides college educations for the children of Special Operations warriors who died in combat. The current program services level is low, but only because they are building the endowment to cover the future costs. Many of these guys left behind very young children.
  • Hiya!  Checking in here because there isn't an IMWI 2011 training group yet (at least not one I've seen)...

First, wanted to be sure everyone saw the thread about the team rally in Madison this year.  It will be the last weekend in July (a change from last year)... more details from Coach R will follow.

Second, putting out a feeler regarding an informal team get together in Madison over Memorial Day weekend.  A few chicas and I have batted around the idea of going (apparently there was a gathering that weekend last year, organized by Matt Ancona, that was a smashing success).  Assuming there is interest, hoping someone will take the reigns to organize (I'd offer but I've only been to Madison once and no pretty much nothing about the area, the course, places to eat or stay... ).  To help, Matt A has offered to pass along the info he put together last year to help out.

I'm going to start a new thread about this in "training and racing" but wanted to put there here in case you get email updates from this topic...

  • Hey Becky,

I'm going to miss the official rally but am all about the Memorial Day weekend but don't know that area well either. Maybe we can bribe Hayes or someone else with beer and tacos.
  • Hey Becky,

I can't find the thread that says the TRI-Rally is at the end of the month. The web site still says 2nd weekend of July. Can you post a link to the thread? I need to get my Schdule set for July so I don't burn up all my SAUs. Thanks
  •  Hey Eric,

    The thread is here:  members.endurancenation.us/Communit...aspx#69420

It also sounds like a something is forming over Memorial Day weekend as well.

  • Thanks Jeff,

I hope I can still fit this in. Family life is busy this summer. Memorial day weekend is out were going to be at Vanbueren State park.
