FAQs:

Where is the spreadsheet?

It's online as a shared Google document
here.

Do I need a Google account?

You shouldn't need one, but you _do_ need to be careful when entering your data that you only touch your space in the spreadsheet and not anyone else's!

How do I create a team?

Just write in a team name and the sheet will start calculating your team data.

How do I post a picture?

Go to the
2009 Holiday Run Challenge Group and then click on the Upload Picture icon just below the black bar. Click "Browse" to find it on your computer and then enter a caption...and voila, you're live!

How do I redeem my challenge credit?

EN Credit is redeemable by emailing your credit amount and desired item for purchase to enation.admin@gmail.com. Team EN member credit will be entered in the overall Team EN Credit sheet.

Technical Difficulties?

Please post to the "I Need Help!" Group Thread or consider posting to the

  • Looks, great!  I'm in.............

  • I'm in. I should be able to blow the doors off my 2008 self since I was injured and not running at all back then!

You need pts for wind dude! It might have only been 45 on my run here today, but those 20mph winds will kick your ass!!!
  • no wind points...just run tailwind, rack up T-Pace points while running at HMP effort and walk home. image
  • I'm in!  Between the run challenge and the 100 pushup challenge, I've prepared my weapons of mass destruction in the battle against the evil Christmas cookies

  • I will have no problems with the "sub-32 degree running" points. 32 degrees would be a balmy day around here.
  • OK. I live in Ottawa Canada. So as someone who lives in a city where the temperature with the wind-chill was minus 30 degrees celsius (minus 22 degrees fahrenheit), I'm thinking one point for a run outdoors is not enough. Maybe 1 point for every 5 degrees less than 32 would be better ... image
  • I'm in again! I'm not sure if I really want to compete against 2008 DrD?  I went a little over the top last year.

    Heck, why not? Game on!

I would have spouse come pick me up.....17 year old daughter is taking on the challenge with me!!!! Do I get extra points for getting my butt kicked by my daughter???

  • So, does it count if I turn my AC down to 31 and run on a treadmill?

  • IN SLC for the holiday. Since I don't have my bike to train this week, what better way to do that than running at altitude in the cold.

Put her on the spreadsheet...that would be so cool!!!!!

  • FYI, the points calculator worksheet is NOT calculating correctly. While I would love to post the amazing points total it just spit out for me, there's no way I earned it (drat!).

Suzanne, it looks OK to me.  Could you give it a try, and if it's doing something you don't expect, could you Message me and tell me what values you are putting in for the various answers.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Mike,

I went in and fixed the spreadsheet yesterday. Someone must have accidentally entered data in to the yellow cells. It should be okay now, but please check to be sure everything is right.

    Thanks Cary!

It looks fine now.  I'm bummed that only 53 people have read my urgent plea on how to use the spreadsheet correctly...oh well, the version control that Google provides is really good!

While I was there I made it so that if people put in 2.3 hours, it'll truncate it down to 2 points, and I also (re-)added the Points Per Athlete column.

  • Mike- I think the calculator is still messed up. I enter points in white section, but weirdness is happening in yellow and I am not getting a total. My 2.1 miles in the cold should equal 3.1 at bottom of white. Nothing was there and yellow section said 5.5 or something.

It's fixed now.  People continue to type in the yellow sections rather than the white.   I have juiced up the color a bit in case the previous yellow was too subtle for some.

    Thanks for letting me know!

    Mike
