My run is in good shape, and swim is starting to come around. I keep thinking the bike is coming around, but then stuff happens...like last weekend it was slush, snow and high winds...so no outdoor bike.
I am scheduled to run a half marathon in about 10 days, but I am starting to worry if the opportunity cost is too high of missing another bike weekend.
The race is on Saturday, so I could probably get in an ABP ride on Sunday...any thoughts?
doing ok here. Bike FT is good for this time of the year, run is on target. Swimming not so great. Having a hard time staying motivated at 5am to swim.. blah.. Did get my TYR TORQUE suit just in case its too warm.. that suit is awesome..
Looked at next week's plan, and there is supposed to be a rest day on Sunday anway. I think I can do my long ride early in the week, so I should be ok.
@William I am in the same boat, thinking about running drake half but not sure what to do. Since my work week is a lot different that others it does not matter as much. It is more about slipping the long rides in when it is nice outside this time of year. I got a free entry into the Grand Blue Mile on Tuesday so I will go out and destroy myself that day.
Oh! Didn't realize the Drake half was so late this year. I thought it was last weekend. That weather would have sucked. Good luck to those racing Drake!
I have officially "gotten over it" and reconciled myself to the fact that my outdoor FTP is not as good as my indoor. In fact, it's 10-15% lower. I guess I "cheat" too much on indoor tests by sitting up and having perfect conditions. I haven't done an official test, but it's in the neighborhood of 230 W. Grrr.
That said, I got out my records from last year.
My 3 hour ride today of 192 W compares to 3 hour rides (on the same plan and within a week or two) of ~170 W.
A +20 W improvement is nothing to sneeze at I know. Plus, this year my drop is about 4 cm more than it was last year, so that would tend to constrict the FTP a little but also make me faster. At this time of year, speed is completely impossible to compare because of the huge winds, but I am quite optimistic that it's a faster fit, and things should get better from here.
Speaking of winds...today's ride was 1:50 out and 1:10 back....
Step back for a few days from training and see how it goes from there. I here you with regards to a lot going on. No matter what it might be I and the team wish you the best of luck and if we can assist in anyway please let us know.
