  • This may make no sense to you guys, but I have secured a nice cycling jacket for race day already. If it is below 55, this guy might be wearing something like that! I went out for a run this morning, in my tri suit, and it was 71 and felt cold compared to the 90-100 temps I have grown accustomed to!

Haha...can't wait to see how this whole thing plays out!
  • According to weather.com the forecast has done a complete 180.  From Tuesday through Race Day Sunny, low 70s, etc.  This could change but at least it's headed in the right direction.

  • Water temp update- up to 55 deg image
  • Barely past 56.5 as of 3:30 pm PT.  I still think it will be 59-60.

  • Yes, but they are already doing the news stories about how cold the water will be. So even if it warms up to 65 deg, the water temp hysteria will persist. It's looking like we won't have the water temp or weather to blame for anything that goes South on race day (not that anything will image
  • 57!  It's unstoppable!  Tomorrow looking real warm in CDA...that should help as well.

  • Is there anything I should be considering wearing/doing to cope with the potential cold water other than a cap and getting in a couple of times over the next few days? What about some hand warmers in T1?!
  • @ Stephen- I plan to get some of those cheapo white cotton work gloves that I can wear for the first few miles on the bike and then toss them in the trash once I warm up. I will also have my arm warmers on my bike. Although they are very difficult to put on when wet, I will have them with me so that I can put them on after a couple miles once I am dry. They will go nicely into my jersey pockets when not needed anymore.

  • I have a number of friends who have swam in Lake CDA this week and virtually all have been pleasantly surprised at the warmth of the lake.  And they have noticed that the temps seem to continue to rise as the week progresses.  Today the air temps hit 80+ degrees which should continue to help.

And remember that the water temp measurement is taken well below the depth that you guys will be swimmiing at.

The weather and water temps seem to be heading for a perfect day for you.

    Swim shallow and swim fast!
