Day 6
Good morning and welcome to day 6. I got up early to put in an hour before work but could only come up with11.6 pts. Definitely getting worn down but only 2 more days to go. Only surprise today was a bloody toe on my left foot- no pain, just a red blotch on the sock.
I guess it's time to cruise for the last 2 days. I only need another 11 pts to match my '08 challenge total so I'm pretty happy with the outcome. Hopefully all those tempo pace(Z4) intervals will make my VO2 (Z5) intervals in the next Nov OS phase seem a little easier.
Have a great day and run long!
John

Well now I don't even feel right about posting my measly 4 points.
Still low 30's and windy down here, but not sub 32 so no Tundra points for me! I felt much better today and did a little over 5 miles while listening to the "Meet the Team" podcast of Robin!! I swear she sounds just like Kris F! I just love those podcasts!
7 freezing degrees! 5.4 miles with 2 @ ;TP. So many layers I felt like I was hardly moving.
8 miles, 4 at TP...............great job team!
7.5 mi, with 2.75 at above TP, and just over 1 hr, for 11.25 points.
I was almost going to get the cold factor indoors today. Treadmill run in the pain cave, temps were 43 degrees. With the fan on, I needed to wear a vest and armwarmers!
Mike
3 on the tm with one above tp....so 4! not the highest, but I am satisfied. Overcast and snowing today....waiting for the sun to come back, yesterday was so nice
two more days everyone!!
6.8 miles + 3.5 2.75 at TP + 1 hour = 10.5
Didn't get the cold point, ran inside with my friend Rich and my DH. The rose between two thorns was I on the threadmill. Very fun.
Next to my husband was a tiny woman who was also running. She started upping her speed and letting out all sort of WHOO-HOOS as she ran! It was a riot. I looked over and the speed for all that whoo-hooing was 5.7 mph.
Made it that much better! Loved it.
Whoops just came back in with a recalc. Did 2.75 at TP, ot 3.5.
Hi everyone!
It was a good idea to do a bit of a recovery day yesterday - this morning after the first mile of my legs screaming "Buddy, what the fork are ya doin' to us?!?!?" everything settled down and I cruised through 16.4 miles in just over 2:30. The forecast was for rain, but thankfully it didn't come, in fact it was warm enough that I took off my rain shell and wrapped it around my waist.
16.4 (miles points) + 2 (hours points) = 18.2
But my most proud achievement was surviving in the pool (right around 45 degrees) for 17 minutes today. I stopped shivering about 45 minutes later
.
Keep going folks, only two days left!!!
Mike
First few minutes felt great, then I started to get a little pain so I stopped at exactly one mile and will wait a few more days before trying to run again. The good news is that I am walking pain free and my limp is pretty much gone.
Matt - I'll gladly run a mile for you! Glad to hear you are out and about, and Good On Ya for keeping your head and not overdoing it!
@Keith - awesome!!
Mike
Got 10 miles in today with 4 at TP pace, not because either I or my legs wanted to but that it was the OS plan called for. It was a tough one, considering the temp and wind and very tired legs.
Happy with my 16 points today and very much looking forward to a few days off after day 8.
De-Christmesed all morning, cleaned and organized like it was my job!! I love my productive days!!
Met a friend at noon for a nice easy chit chatty run!!
6.5 miles on legs that are bit like concrete after yesterdays 30/30's with a track chaser. ( had to combine workout days and boy do I feel it) So 6.5 points for me for day 6.
CC
25 degrees and sunny, slight wind. Headed up to Gordon College to run on the track. Did a nice warmup thru the campus and surrounding woods then hit the track for the IP intervals.
This is only the second or third time I've done the workout on a track and really enjoyed it. After the work was done, I was at 45 min, so like I ran very slowly for 15 minutes because that's all my legs gave me. My sweat was starting to freeze on my outer layers.
7.5 miles + 1 hour + sub freezing + 2 miles well below TP = 11.5
Dave
Had to get to work early so lost my tundra points zone- ran 5.5 this afternoon, so 6 more for EN Chickas! A few sprinkles just as I finished so dodged that ole rain. Was reflecting a bit as I ran my staple IM training course for the last time in '09, if that road could only talk... it saw alot this year!
P.S. Nemo- Robyn lives just abt an hour from me! That's 3 KY EN'ers.... a slowly growing sleeper cell!
Matt
Great job everyone!
Matt and Peter monster runs! Matt, I think you should get a bonus for doing 2 hours on the treadmill!! Were you at least watching a movie? Peter - double day!! You should get a bonus point too!
By the way, you two, you 20 point day is the record for this year! Sad, but no overall record for you - last year someone did a 23.7 day - yipes!
Mike
Aiming for an hour with 2mi TP. Got some blowback from my legs at 5 miles, so jogged home. Totals: 6.9mi, 1 hour, 2 miles TP for 9.9 points. Cumulative fatigue showed in a lagging HR for standard pace. Glad that we only have 2 more days
Wow! Great job everyone. I was psyched to do a long one but at the end of the first TP mile (2nd mile overall) my right quad started chirping in an unsettling way. So I ran a 3rd mile home slow and thus live to fight another day. I guess all the good advice I've been reading in the forums about listening to your body and adjusting is starting to pay off. The pre-EN me would've pushed through and perhaps gotten hurt. :-) Still got my 3+1+1 (<32 degrees) though! Hey, still a Type-A <img alt="" src="http://members.endurancenation.us/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/whistling.gif" />
Got up early and headed north to pick up some sale items. Got home in time to go out to a great dinner with the whole Woodworth family! Got home with a very full stomach, waited an hour and gave up that I might do a 5 miler. I ran 1 stupid mile so that I could qualify for every day, BUT did it at TP and the temp was below 32 so......yeah....got 3 points for that 10 minutes!!!! Sorry it wasn't more chickas.....tomorrow I'll get er done!
Came home and walked the dog under the cold moonlight, nice to end the year on a blue moon.
