anyone else starting early?
Hey!
Per the coaches, I started my OS plan yesterday... well, that is I was supposed to. I flew home (from a long weekend in Portland with my brothers) yesterday so that was a scratch. I'll do the bike test tonight and make up the day this week so I'll be starting week 2 square on Monday.
Just curious if anyone else was in my boat?
My first target race is Eagleman HIM in mid-June (which is why I'm starting a week out... and will likely drop out with a week or two to go).
Hope everyone had a great holidays! Happy New Year.

Not starting early. Last year I did Jan OS, which was only 16 weeks, it is longer this time around. Anyway, my A race HIM is mid June. Last year it was not an A race as I was just going to do it as a long training day. I was following the IM plan. Heart wasn't in it and 4 weeks later (2 weeks out) I changed my mind. Sort of tapered those 2 weeks and PR'd by 35 minutes. So the OS will have you pretty darn ready. Trust me! I am not planning to stop early, but everyone is different.
I started Dec 14, intending to be back on track by the middle of Feb after 3 weeks worth of skiing during the next six. But then I'll be doing the power clinic as well, so I have no idea how all that will play out. I'm intending to start IM training block in the first or second week of April for IM CDA.
So I'm actually in week 3 now, doing 2 x 12', etc.
Will be cheering for you over achievers with a cookie in my hand.
Keep it going, Al! I actually started a few weeks ago (not sticking to it entirely) before joining Team EN... so I'm glad for the opportunity to get a do-over (and will do it right this time). Enjoy the 2x12 while you can since the 2x15 is a killer... I'm not at all looking forward to the 2x20!
Al- my head is spinning just trying to sort all that out! Glad it's you and not me trying to juggle that schedule :-)
Oh- and Rebecca, there's an off chance I might actually be doing Eagleman as well (perhaps the Aqua Velo). Much as I hate to admit it (esp since I've done E-Man 3 times now), that race simply is the right location/time for me to do the HIM I'd like to do this season before starting IMWI training. I'll let you know what happens- I might just register for the Aqua-Velo to keep it low key.
The (G)/(J)effs are on the same page. I'm planning on going home and eating prime rib leftover from the holidays. That of course included au' gratin potatoes and green been cassarole too. I will wash that down with a cookie.
I might run today. Nothing fast or fancy.
I start 1/4 also. No need to rush OS.
Even a condensed vrsion. Tinkering with spinning and running this week. No swimming yet.
+12 lbs. since early November. Pants are tight, shirts are tight and I am wearing more loose, stretchy running pants lately.
Got new aero bar set-up on my tri bike (Zipp Vuka/Chicane) and going in tomorrow to get professionally fit (I guess it is actually a refit with new set-up). Then bike to LBS Saturday to get cabling, etc. done for pick-up on Monday night. So bike work officially begins Tuesday. Running and weight reversal begins Monday.

I started 12/21. Couldn't wait to get going once I joined on the 18th. I look forward to sharing my experiences with the group even if they happen a couple weeks in advance of the others (this is Wednesday of Week 2). So my OS ends May 8th. I have the American Triple T Ohio on May 21-23. This is IM distance split up over four races on the weekend. I will ping Rich and Patrick in early April to start adding far to fast and know I'll be ready. Once downside to starting early - I still am full of cookies and ham so it's a little more difficult to push hard!

Good on'ya Scott... you're a week ahead of me, so we can commisserate with the rest of the folks as they follow in our footsteps.
John, be sure to have some cookies for me! When I got back from Christmas vaca item 1 on the agenda (well, after unpacking and starting laundry) was to clean the panty and the fridge. My beau was the lucky recipient of lots of candy and cookies.
I'm up about 10 since late August - when I decided to try to fly (it didn't go so well). Pants are tight... not so happy about that... glad to finally be training again. I got in the pool for the first time since my crash last week... happy to say I didn't drown. Hoping to get in once a week for 1500-2000m base building since I've been out of swimming for so long.
Speaking of nothing - I highly recommend Trizophrenia (book by the cartoonist who does Frazz), it's really quite funny. You'll love it and I suspect those who love and support you will, too.
Well, it's starting to look pretty likely that I'll be in Cambridge MD for E-Man again this year. I must be a glutton for punishment! That race simply is logistically in the best time/place for my schedule. The tipping point came when I found out this past weekend that friends from MD who I thought were NOT doing the race this year have also decided to return (as volunteers). A big part of racing for me is the social thing. I should have confirmation on all of this shortly.
One word of warning, don't try to make any extrapolations from your EMan time to your IMFL time. A HIM and an IM are simply two different animals so be careful about making assumptions (like "I did EMan in 6 hours, so I'll do IMFL in 12 hours- right?"). FYI- If you haven't considered it yet, think about doing ChessyMan as an Aqua-Velo. That race is usually scheduled at a perfect time for Florida folks to use as a race rehearsal- and of course it's flat & windy like IMFL too.
