Comments

  •  Yo Kurt.  Check the 10 weeks to go thread.

  • Kurt - many big days reported under 10wks to go thread. That said, I willnpost here for my day 2 of big weekend.

This morning I rode identical 73 mile ride as I did on Friday. While purpose of Friday's ride for me was to dial in race pace steady effort, today I gave it much more gas. I wanted to see the different feelings in my legs between two intensity efforts as I jumped off the bike for a transition run. Conditions were similar between today and Friday, though there was a little more wind today during second half of ride.

    Friday's ride: IF=69%, ride time =3:32

    Today's ride: IF=79%, ride time= 3:23

Then jumped off bike for a run.

Friday's transition run: 60min, 8:27/mi avg pace which included 45sec walk breaks each mile

Today's Run stats: 32min, 8:12/mi avg pace with zero walk breaks

I'm very encouraged by the run, even if only about half the duration as Friday. I went much harder on the bike and was able to run quicker, straight thru with no walk breaks. The pieces of the puzzle seem to be falling into place, including nutrition which has not been as issue yet (fingers crossed it continues).

    Work Works, Work=Speed!

Calling Stark and Alexander..... "still can't see me up up ahead; keep trying boys; I want some company and a draft legal EN pace line as we go back and forth along Beeline Hwy in AZ.

    Stay motivated everyone!

  • Kurt I just finished up on mine this afternoon. My best swim of the year this morning in both pace and comfort, first swim all year that I didn't experience any soreness/pain in the left shoulder since my crash in May! Bike was 61 miles in 3:40, I did an out and back ride and after turnig around at the 2 hr mark killed it on the way back in (very slight climb most the way out with a head/crosswind) so I didn't get the full 4 hour bike in. The run was okay, I am not a runner so I was happy that I was able to run the full 60 without walking, and was much improved over my efforts in the Boulder races this summer. All in all a good training day. Biggest takeaway is that I have to quit neglecting the bike to work on run and swim and get some balance. Good day continuing to learn some discipline one the bike. And to top it all off my wife texted me halfway through the bike with news that my 13 year old was offered a starting position on a club volleyball team that is perenially in the top two in Colorado and generally top 20 in the country! Awesome Sunday!
  • @Mike - great work there; solid training day you. Congrats.
