Delay first test a couple of days???

I'm getting over a respiratory infection, and still have a pretty bad cough.  I'm going to try to get in my bike test today, but I don't know if I'll make it through or what the results will show.  Thinking that I might wait and do the run test on Thursday and bike test on Friday.

  • Probably not a bad idea to put it off. Need to listen to your body and recover.

  • Agree with Matt- listen to your body.  But don't try doing the tests back to back if you can help it.  Give yourself a rest day inbetween or you are probably gonna blow whatever test comes second.  You could do the bike test on Saturday instead of the Sat workout.

  • I hope you feel better!
I agree with holding off (and taking a day to recover between)...
  • The viruses are always out there. Actually getting sick from one means your body is begging for some rest. Best to provide it. OTH, studies actually show no reduction of performance with a cold. But the risk is you may make things worse, like bronchitis or pneumonia.
  • Another vote to rest up so that you don't make things worse.  If you are better by Thursday for the run test perhaps you could do the FTT week two tuesday.  I completed my first FTT on week two and still had great results over the next 7 weeks.

  • ditto... Hope you feel better
  • Lungs are very finicky. If cough is from post nasal drip (PND) tickling throat, you should be OK once you are rested and feeling better. If cough is due to lung inflammation from bronchitis/ chest cold, then seriously consider waiting for several weeks to start. If you need an inhaler to calm the cough then cold air if you run outside will stimulate a coughing jag and ruin the test.
