4 Weeks left

Started out this week today with a 50 mile bike ride in some nice mid 70's weather.  Looking forward it could be one of very few outdoor rides left until AZ, we are expecting 4-6" of snow in the area Tuesday/Wednesday so the bike is already on the trainer.  Overall a good ride and I learned my fear threshold on the way back at 35mph and about a 20 mph crosswind. Don't have my numbers downloaded yet as I wait for Garmin support for some help but think I did a pretty good job of maintaining the watts where I needed them fighting the wind all day.  How is everybody else doing?

  • Nice job Mike; I will be having a busy training week, with one last mega 3-day weekend push, which includes a big RR on Sunday. Tired I am, and looking forward to next Monday morning when volume starts to decline. I know I have the fitness to have a good race; I've been playing with the mental side, thinking about those intangibles outside our control, etc. and visualizing my options on how I may deal with them. Since my weak sport is the swim, I am still pondering where to place myself for the swim start.
  • Sounds like you guys are really gearing up mentally and physically for the race. Excellent. I think the volume peak is coming at just the right time for me. Mind and body are ready to start the taper. I didn't get all the workouts in during the buildup and I think as triathletes we probably always wish we could have done more, but I think anything more would be flirting with overtraining. I think I will be able to finish (my goal) and am really looking forward to seeing what I can do in the race.
  • Getting ready...really ready to get this thing done!!!! Finished my first 2.4 mile swim (in a pool) today and felt awesome. Was planning to do RR tomorrow but bad weather forecasted here in GA....need to realign the plan somehow this weekend with other priorities planned. Stay safe out there and train smart.
