....I see Flesh Zeppelins lumbering around Disney World with a turkey leg in each hand and it makes me sick. Sick, and angry, because I'm going to end up paying for their health care.

I recently heard a quote that rings somewhat true with me: "The deeper you are into any subculture, the less tolerant you become."

I find that I wish I were, like Rich, around endurance athletes all the time.  Alas, I am not.  I find that I have rather 'ungratuitous' thoughts when I see the types of people that Andrew referred to.  Gen and I have talked about this, sort of....we have decided that in the event one of departs this plane of existence, we expect to meet the future Mrs. (or Mr.) at a race.  We know that they will have a commitment to fitness.

By the way, when I mentioned to Gen the article that started this thread, her response (tongue-in-cheek) was "So that is why I got breast cancer!!  I must have exercised too much!"

  • Flesh Zeppelins - a memorable, well crafted phrase that generates a mental image that will be with me for quite some time, and not the "squeeze my lemon . . ." kind of thing.

    Thanks Andrew.
  • Woiuld that be like that Harkonen Baron in Dune, who used anti-grav belt to support his corpulent middle?
