First brick of the 2013 OS is done! My Edge showed the temp getting up to 71.6 in the basement but it felt hotter and my HR was pretty high. I exceeded the power targets for the intervals pretty handily, likely because I was off the bike since Wednesday and had a rest day yesterday. The brick run felt good although I thought I was going faster than I was.
Bike – overall 1:14:02, NP 215, IF 0.899. Full warmup of 10' easy/z1 then 3x3'(1')@z3. Then the main set:
I WENT OFF THE RESERVATION.....and what I mean by that is that I forgot that this afternoon was the start of our local Time Trial Series.
So, after running this morning and thinking I was done for the week, I had to prep the bike to get back outside. (Note to self - next time you are getting a crank-based powermeter....changing out the trainer tire sux)
I first did a solo effort, then 5' after finishing was asked to be part of a team.
YOU WIN for posting such a great picture of your TT. I LOVE the pink helmet and socks. I WANT!!!!! My husband tried to get a pink Rudy aero helmet In Kona when they were giving them out free but he ended up with a red white and blue one.
Matt - how do you get that nice little table in here?
I highlight it in Garmin Connect, copy/paste into a blank email, then copy/paste it from the email into the post. Since I'm pasting from the email and not the web I get the prompt to "clean the text" and the special box to paste into. I paste and it goes right into the post with no problems. Takes about 15 seconds!

Carrie - Thanks. I started out in October 2010 with the Fluo Pink 'regular' helmet when my wife and I got the results back of her biopsy: cancer. From that day forward, I have proudly worn the pink. Pink bar tape, pink cabling, pink ribbons all over my bike (and wheelcover which wasn't on for this race), pink calf sleeves, pink sunglasses, and pink helmet. It is a great conversation starter about a husband's ability to detect a lump in a breast before the wife does.
I was very fortunate in 2011 to get a lottery slot to Kona and actually made the broadcast....for a whopping six seconds or so. It was early morning -- still dark -- and a camera crew asked me, "What's up with the pink?" (I had my Air Force kit on, but had my pink CEP calf sleeves on, as well as pink-ribbon-Sharpie-filled in henna tattoos on the sides of both legs. My quick reply, "Her real ones tried to kill her!" The crew followed and filmed for the rest of the morning and I got a few seconds on NBC. Which my kids loved, especially my son. We had no idea we had made the editing so it was a huge surprise while watching the broadcast.
As I was racking my bike, I got a bear hug from a random volunteer. He had lost his daughter to breast cancer and wanted to thank me for all the ribbons on my bike.
Imagine this filled in with bright pink Sharpie......
Joe Matchette- tears in my eyes!! What a great story. The pink is awesome and a great way for that conversation to start with people. Gen is a lucky girl to have you. Very cool that you made the Kona broadcast. Especially for something so important.

Solo effort:
Team effort, #3 of 5, first 3 across for timing
It was a fun afternoon with friends. And, best of all I got a trophy since our Team took 1st place!
Pictures to follow.....
NOW I can get ready to enjoy tomorrow's Rest Day.
Pix from today's TT:
Gen and Me. She ended up taking 2nd in her Age Group.
Here I am at the finish line:
Nobody is watching you finish!!! All that flash gear and, pfft, somebody behind you is getting all the glory.

you and Gen make me smile.
Saturday bike didn't seem particularly challenging but my legs were tired for the run.
Joe love your pictures, pink helmet and moving story.
