Today was one of those days where I felt the fatigue in my legs - I've had a few of them during this OS, where I can hit the paces but not much more. The turnover and springiness just wasn't there - and I found my cadence settling in the 81-82 range as opposed to the typical 85 or so. I could muster it up during the threshold intervals, but even during the MP/LRP stuff afterwards the cadence was a bit low. I'm new to using a footpod (and therefore having instant cadence feedback) - so it would be interesting if cadence ends up being just another metric to monitor fatigue.
Tough run today. 2 x 2 miles. Hit the pace on the first two miles, but was struggling on the next two. Broke the second one into 2 x 1 mile, and came pretty close to hitting target paces for the last mile. Stretched it out to 90 minutes, and felt pretty good the rest of the way going halfway between EP and HMP. Looking forward to another rest day.
I hear you Jim it was a tough workout. I hit the first interval on pace but had to recover for the first 200 a little slower than EP. I finished up good second interval and remaining time I was on pace. I'm feeling the fatigue today.
didn't post it, but got the Sunday run in. the last 2 mile segment was a challenge, but i hit my paces spot on
after my FTP bike session last night, i knocked out a quick 30' Z1 jog with strides this morning
as an aside, i am loving the unseasonably warm temps for outside runs, but could do without the barefoot old man in the oversized t-shirt (and nothing else?) that I passed in Central Park this morning
