Stage 9 in the books! Champagne and kisses from the Podium Girls. My legs are toast. It was really fun riding with everyone. The last nine days did a ton to build my mental toughness (one of the big goals for this season for me). I definitely would not have pushed as hard as I did without knowing that everyone was out there suffering as well.
I combined all nine stages using poweragent and got the following stats for the entire tour:
- Total time: 11:53
- Distance 236 miles
- Average Power 247
- Normalized Power 271
- Total TSS 966
- Total IF 0.90
Time for a few days of recovery and then to load up my next phase of training. Good luck everyone!
FYI, the boys at Sufferfest have already loaded a new one day event on their Facebook page for a Saturday in March. Rumors are that it will be three videos back to back. I'm guessing that their new 2 hour video (scheduled for release sometime this month) will be one of them. I'm in as a 'Maybe' right now.
Tour of Sufferlandria completed. That was a fun challenge. Overall was 11+ hours of riding in 9 consecutive days at an average IF of .95. Here is the last ride and my favorite Sufferfest video.
@CoachP: I finished the Tour with 11+ hours of riding with an average IF of .95 so got to bump up my FTP a bit. Podium girls and chamois dancing as team EN was well represented. I think Roy, Ebe, Trevor, Stark, Glynn, Stephanie, Carlo all finished. For the Chi Sleeper Cell, Jeff Linkus got really sick and had to bail and John Molchin missed one stage.
I am certainly expecting a big bump at my test next week, After the first day, I really did not think that I would finish but I muddled through at 90-95% for all of the videos. Had a problem with trainerroad the second day, so I had to do the Hunted 2x so I would not fall the tour, that made me feel really bad a$$ . The trainerroad guys were awesome trying to save my data but it was to no avail.
I finished up and had a great time. Not sure it was advantageous to my IM program, but it was fun. My legs took quite the beating and by the end, couldn't stand on the bike for fear of my quads giving out. I don't remember the last time I biked 9 days in a row.
I was thinking I was going to get a big fitness bump. but this week I'm really sore from getting back to running and swimming.
I said it before I'll say it again. You guys crushed it. Those rides were insane. Maybe next year I'll join in the fun but I think I did the right thing standing down this year.
@Tom I'm sure you got one hell of a Bike fitness bump. Not that you really needed that. Get back the that running and swimming!
