@Matt - you're not far from a 1:25 half. I know your 5K time isn't that great, but you can run forever at your HM pace in workouts. Don't go nuts, but don't underestimate yourself.

My run today was pretty routine. Given the relatively easier assignment, I went outside today. It was in the upper 20s...turned out to be windier than I though, but it was still nice to run outside. More snow/crap coming tomorrow.
the two quick miles were at 6:15 and 6:29. Rest easy. 12 total.

Kind of you to say but there's no way. I had to call bullshit on Matt Ancona when he said something similar to me last summer. That would be a 54.5 VDOT and running for an hour and a half at a 6:29 pace. Not going to happen. That said, a 1:28:xx is certainly possible if the conditions are good...that's a 6:47 pace and I'm pretty confident I could do that in a 75' training run since I'm usually just over 6:50 but with intervals/recoveries...and I ought to be able to do ANYTHING in the last 15 minutes of a race...RIGHT????
There was a local 10k yesterday afternoon, so I ran 2 before and 2 after to make it my long run for this week.
Didn't plan on racing it, but that's what I always say I guess. I'm learning to let go of my running volume security blanket. I was curious how my 10k shape has been over this program. Going off my splits, it holds a lot of promise for having a solid half marathon at the end of March. I started off really conservative, and picked up the pace over the last 2. Finished 8th out of 200 Boring course, double out and back on a windy day

Did my Run test yesterday due to Chicago weather.
Had fastest 5k ever and not even in a race. Ran 26:05 vs. best 5k of 27:15.
Vdot from 34.2 to 36.4.
Each mile about 8:25 Consistent and HR about 168
Bike test also went from 165 to 174.
Nice to see hard work pay off.
