AmZof- Chris G Memorial 2013 Planning Thread

We've got 8 weeks until AmZof and for those of us traveling from out of town, we probably need to start figuring out some logistics!  So first things first, whose in?  Which locals are available to shuttle the out of towners, and which out of towners are planning to fly in for the race?

I'm all in- will likely be flying into the Nj/Ny area on Friday.

John and I are both in! We can pick up out of towners flying into Newark in the afternoon (I'll have to work around my kids' school schedules, but am happy to taxi anyone who needs taxi'd!). We have a few extra couches and air mattresses for anyone who needs a place to crash Friday night, too. We'll have room for at least two more bodies in our car on the way up to AmZof (hopefully that won't make things too tricky with bikes and luggage, but if it does, we can always take another car!).

I'm in as well. Driving from the Worcester, MA area, happy to car pool if anybody else is in the area. Did Scott set up the same place for rooms, and do I have to do something?

Yup- we are staying in the same place. I booked it a long time ago. I'm betting there was a group rate under the name Endurance Nation, I just don't remember.

@ Mike- we should see if Cary booked the room--I didn't, you didn't, so that only lwaves him.

I'm booked to arrive Newark about 5 PM, and will be driving up. I need the car for my tourist days after. I booked @ Hudson Valley Resort using the EN name, and got a discount @ $139.

Cary- that looks about right for the list of details. Might want a seperate columns for where folks are staying Friday, Saturday, Sunday (since I personally stayed in different places every night last year!!)

Also, maybe add a column for the local's to indicate if they are available to help with airport pickups and if so, what airport?

Ok - now feeling really bummed I didn't sign up for this again.....maybe I'll reach out to the race director....Just not sure I want to pay $600 for a charity slot in addition to the flight to NJ.....guess I can ask - worst is that he can say no....

OK, I really think I am coming this year! I had to back out last year due to family commitments, but hoping that things will be better this year.

I am flying in on Friday, and I think Scott Dinhofer will be picking me up at the airport. He is either going to come to the race, or at least can get me to a place to meet up with some of you for a ride to the race on Saturday? I have a room booked at the hotel.

Can't wait to see all of you and meet some new friends!

Well poop, Tucker is the owner so I would assume if you request access he'd add you. I've also tried adding you Cary (since I happen to know your email addy). If that works and others need access, let me know. I'm assuming Tucker made it private since phone number, name, and email addresses are shared on the file.

@ JT- Ask the race director if you can transfer into my spot.  I won't be racing and it's paid for (and I don't care about the $$, so if you want it just take it and enjoy it for Chris G)

@Keith (or anyone else)- if JT is too lame to take your slot I have several friends who are looking for a slot. We were able to transfer several slots last yr and have already reached out to the RD who said it will be cool if we have a slot we need to transfer. However, I'm pret sure because of the permitting that they cannot add any extra slots which is HY they're charging so much for the charity slots.

So again, JT, you should do the race, but suck it up and do the middle distance his yr... And if you don't want to ship your bike, I have a 56cm road bike you can borrow.

But if anybody knows of any other slots that won't actually be used, please let me know because I have several close friends who are interested. I think a couple are actually lurkers in EN and the others are Team ReserveAid peeps.

Hi Cary & Mike,

I've been playing phone tag with the reservation people this week for our room.  I'll post when i actually speak with a live person.  I'm going but won't be racing as I had shoulder surgery a week ago to reattach my labrum.  6 months of rehab so no racing for me this year.  I still plan on being at the event, so I'll be cheering you guys on & drinking beer for beer with Chris G!!
