  • I requested access on the spreadsheet. Can someone add me?
  • Stephanie - PM your email address to me and I'll add you.
  • @Stephanie - I found your email address from a previous event and added you.

  • Ok - If I can confirm that I cant take Keith's spot, I'll book the flight. Sent JW a note to see if he had contact info for race director so I can confirm....once that's done, I'll book the flight..... Pete J - you still looking for a roommate??
  • Excellent, thanks Keith!!!

    Excellent, thanks Keith!!!

Oh, I had booked a room for us. So now that we have two, so I was figuring that Mike could stay in the other with my friend Jordan that's doing the race. Mike I think you two will get along, Jordan is a Pro Triathlete with a similar athletic and educational background to yours, I think you guys will hit it off nicely.

  • I'm going to book my flight this week and will probably shoot for a flight in/out of Newark since it seems that's where most folks can pickup/dropoff. If you pickup/drop off folks have a preferred time to nab us out of towners from the airport, let me know so I can book accordingly.
  • JT - room still available if you need it!
  • Pete - Hold it for me....just trying to get confirmation from Keith that I can take his slot and then I'll book my flight... Thanks...

Let me know if there is just 2 of us in a room as they hit me with a $10 roll away bed fee and another fee for a 3rd person in the room.

Sorry Keith - there is no second room - that was a April fool's joke at Mike's expense (see this post for the back story). I specifically put the date on there hoping that it wouldn't confuse anyone. So it's three of us, but if there ends up being an odd number we can switch it up so no one has to pay for a room by them-self.

  • OK, I'm out. Travel logistics became too crazy and my husband has to leave the country for a few wks for work and I hate to leave my kids alone for the entire weekend.

Can I transfer my race registration to anyone?
  • Ok - Steph is out and I'm in. Booked my flight from Denver so we'll still have Colorado representation. Now have to email race director that I'm taking Keith's spot. Looking forward to it...(oh how easy it is to forget how steep the hills are)
  • Steph-- I still have a couple of "Team ReserveAid" friends who are desperately looking for a slot to get into the race. If none of the EN folks want it, can I have it? The RD has already transferred Michele Celai's slot to one of them for me.
  • John....absolutely! I'm really sad not to be coming (so many of you that I wanted to meet), but I will be so happy to have someone use the spot. I'm registered for the Chris Gleason distance.
  • Great Steph, thanks! I sent you a PM...

I still see the second time up the Mohonk climb in my nightmares!  I've never actually contemplated getting off my bike and walking during a race before that climb last year...

Uhh...what have I gotten myself into? Is this steeper than, like 20% (which I know I can handle). BTW, there are MANY Xterra races I've walked up inclines. No shame.

    Ugh - that horrible climb.

  • This is on the road Al, not a trail... Don't worry, they have written taunting slogans in chalk on the road just to tease you even more!

    perfect quote for American Zofingen:

“Your body will argue that there is no justifiable reason to continue. Your only recourse is to call on your spirit, which fortunately functions independently of logic”. – Tim Noakes
  • Hey Al-- If you want some inspiration for the race, read this: http://members.endurancenation.us/Forums/tabid/57/aft/8856/Default.aspx
  • Al, (and everybody, for a good walk down memory lane), read Chris G's race reports for more color:

"Thought there was no way I could make it up the climb. Thank goodness for 34/26 as I managed to get up the climb without falling over. Barely."

My mistake was bringing my 11/23 on the back. I will not make the same mistake twice!!!
  • Hey Mike, about that bike, um, don't spend much time cleaning the chain or tuning it up. I torqued my knee on a trail run about 3 weeks ago and the diagnosis is either a strain to the MCL or a small tear in the meniscus. In any case, while the RICE and PT protocol has made some small improvements the recovery is going very slow and there's no way I'll be able to run those trails (and biking the hill may be a problem too if I do something silly). Sooooo, I'm pulling out. Sorry everyone!
  • OK, I've recovered from St George, read all the AZ race reports, looked at the videos, scouted the weather reports and am ready to start thinking about this event. My thought ... I hope it doesn't rain.
  • Nemo---come anyway.  We can drink beer together and mock/cheer these guys on.  I also plan on working on my tan.

  • Sorry folks. But have no fear, I've found another way to punish myself on the hills this weekend without doing anything that risks the knee! Good luck to everyone doing the race this weekend. I'll be thinking about you all!!!
  • Ok - 4 days out and I'm having nightmares of running up that hill in the rain and mud - but of course loving it at the same time - but the forecast is calling for dry days thru Sunday! Now if I can only get this back strain cleared up....gotta love this crazy Tri life!

Looking forward to dinner at the brew pub Saturday night - have to raise a pint in Chris's honor! See you all soon....
  • I've thought about little else this week. Looking forward to seeing everyone up there.
