Did get the 3 X 1s completed today at 6:51, 6:55 and 6:50 with a story....
After completing yesterday's brick, I left for a cub scout campout with my 3 boys about 10 a.m. Camping is a lot of work when you're a Den leader but can also be big fun. Coyotes kept me from REM sleep in the tent last night. Got the legs to the floor at 5:30 a.m. and was met with ptich black darkness and dense fog in an unfamiliar area. Had to pull back a little on the intervals just rying to make sure I was staying on the road as I could not see more that 2 feet in front of me at any given time. Was in in the high 40s. 6.85 miles total, 7:43 avg pace.
The 6+ pounds of bereavement weight I have gained is wreaking havoc on my run. I took it easy today and ran mostly MP with the 1.5 repeats at HMP. 6.59 miles at 8:47 avg. pace. Glad this week is done.
Shaughn, I am a den leader also and we had our campout 2 weeks ago. Flipping cold and it was 20 to 40 mile an hour winds all night. Plus all the activities during the day. I was pooped. No way I could have ran the next morning. My hat is off to you my friend. You are an example of "Do Your Best."
Ran with a couple of friends I haven't run with in a while. They knew my plan and were cool with it. Hit the 3x1's and finished with a little HMP. Legs are fried and so am I. Good night.
Switched up the run to get the marathon challenge run in, so I just went for 6.55mi at TP. Felt remarkably good. Might need to re-test the Vdot at some point, like over a turkey trot!
Woke up with a full blown stuffy head. Been sick more in the last 3 weeks than the last 3 years BTW. Sucks. Did an easy 5 just to loosen things up from the mary relay and hard ride yesterday. No more fast running til Thursday am for me. Nice work this week everyone!
Hit the bike hard for 4 hours on Sat, hit the intervals, then Sun hit all my splits for the run, which surprised me. Happy to have today off. Back at it tomorrow, then turkey trot Thursday for 10k.
Week 3 is in the books and I am extremely pleased with the results. I was not looking forward to the my run yesterday after sitting at a swim meet for 8 hours. The body was stiff and I was plain tired. However, much to my surprise, I nailed the workout.
TP: 6:58
Warm up: 2 miles
3 x 1
6:27
6:15
6:11
It was dark during the run, so I had no clue where my spilt would end other than the fact that I was under my TP. As my results popped up on Garmin connect I was very happy.
I owe a lot to the team and this run thread. The motivation was huge.
