Unslung today!...ran for the first time outside in 10 weeks...felt "great"...range of motion sux...start some PT/rehab next week..how was your range of motion when you were recovering...hurts to try and raise above 90 degrees to quickly...and above head (can't actually do that...)...?? I can run...but no weight bearing or lifting yet...still in a good place and really digging your book...it is spot on!..thanks
JCL -- man I remember that day! Rehab goes quickly but remember you want equal parts manipulation as exercises. They need to break that scar tissue up don't let them just tell you how to operate an elastic band and watch you do reps. Seriously.
I just sent my Ortho a finish picture of me from IMMT one year after surgery and stronger than ever....
Headed to first PT session today; been trying to move the arm on my own all week; amazing how difficult it is...every day has been a little better...
What was your mobility like? could reach overhead? its crazy.
Did you run when you got out of the sling? how much? I want to run...not so much "training" as just running....so I have run twice this week...first was run/walk...then 35 minutes.. 3mile + strides....just enough to feel good about it...
I also want to swim..just for movement...not workouts...did you swim; doc was okay with getting in the water...kicking...but recognizing that I couldn't really swim without being able to stretch my arm out overhead....said I should wait...did you do any kind of swimming? how soon?
Don't worry: I'm not going to try and mimic you; I am following the doc/pt advice...but I'm just sense-checking how I feel v other peoples experience.
The manual therapy is awesome. By the end of each session your Pt will have your arm moving like 33% more than when you went in. It's atrophy and scar tissue. Let them show you how to properly self-mobilize. Swimming took forever for me, but being in the water is great (weightless) so maybe some aquajogging with arm swim for mobility help.
I personally focused on getting my arm straight so I could weight bear on handlebars of bike on trainer. Believe it or not, most of my early workouts were on the bike.
