Jacklyn Micro thread
Starting my micro thread. I'm in the fourth week of the beginner OS. I work on Sunday and Mondays. I leave for work at 0600 and get home north of 8pm. Any suggestions on what to do with the Sunday run. I thought to just move it to Friday. Tried it. FAILED. I really need the rest. Even though Monday is an off day for training work wipes me out and I don't really get much rest.
Thank you, Jacklyn
P.S I hope I did this thread right. I'm not very tech. That's my husbands stuff.

Let me know if that's a no go....thanks!
Thanks Coach P. I'll try it. Thought about it but wasn't sure if I could limit the run and bike. I'll let you know how it goes next week. Hope everything is well with you.

Good Morning Coach,
I received Coach Rich's plan for me. He picked the Run Durability #1. When I watched your podcast your talking about people who have done IM. I'm nervous because I am not an experienced runner at all. Is this plan to help me build my lack of running fitness? I also have the same scheduling problem with the Sunday run. Can I move it to Saturday and do both the run and bike?
Hope you are healing well. Thank you for your time-Jacklyn
Thank you. I'll double up Saturday. Have a great holiday! I really appreciate your help-Jacklyn
Good Morning,
Well, sigh, my first injury. I have a strained S.I. joint. I start physical therapy tomorrow. My friend/P.T asked that I not run but continue riding and swimming. I planned on changing to a daily ride on the trainer for 1 hour and swim tues/thursday. Does that sound ok?
Jessie, my therapist thinks I can start running again next week.
Jacklyn
Thank you. My therapist is an EN IM. She's the one who talked my into this. I plan of being a model student and strengthening the weakness that running brought to my attention. I will go with your suggestions. Jessie has me doing some specific weight training too.
Have a great day. Jacklyn
Coach,
Silly question? What's a "doobee"? I'll ask Jessie about a picture. She's pretty modest but she was in the local newspaper with her husband.

Howdy Coach. My P.T still won't let me run but i'm now pain free and standing upright. Today the weather blessed us with 55 degrees, sun and no wind. My husband and I went on a short hammer ride. Made several small goals. Rode 2000 miles since June, increased my average mph by 1.3 mph (it was 13.9). Best off all I out rode my husband! I actually dropped him. Normally I have to draft to keep up on a hammer ride. Not today. Even though i'm on the injured list i'm still working hard.
Thanks Coach!
P.S i hope your healing well. Merry Christmas.
Happy New Year Coach!
Coach Rich has changed me to a bike focus instead of the January OS. I'm still not able to run more than a few minutes on a treadmill. I am starting aqua jogging next week. Swimming laps is part of my low back rehab. I have to swim with a foam wedge so I can't use my legs and have to twist at the waist. It has helped a lot. I am at the pool 3 days a week because my daughter does junior swim team so no real time investment and I can swim when she's swimming. Can I add tues and thursday as laps? I can't aqua jog at that time d/t swim team being in the deep pool. I don't mind doubling up bike and swim because it's spread am/pm.
Thank you,
Jacklyn
Thank you, Coach. It's full speed ahead, dawn the torpedoes!
I just found your DWR training plan. Now I have a plan. I was a little lost. Thank you.
Lol. Cute.
Howdy Coach!
For my 41 st birthday I received a wonderful gift. Discharge from physical therapy. Jessie, my friend/PT, has me running on the treadmill for 2:30 min on then walk 1 minute at an 11:00 minute pace. She has me doing that for 45 minutes 4 times a week. Focusing on cadence and form. She wants me to increase my intervals by 30 seconds each week until I reach a 60 minute run. Which I am going to reach next week. If no problems we will transition to some open road time. She wants me basically doing a run focus because running is such a huge weakness for me. She keeps me on a short leash.
I am continuing your DWR 2 times a week and doing core/stretching daily. Daily doubles is tiring. I fell asleep on the couch today. My present from my husband, bless him, is my registration for "Tri in the Grove" and " The Oregon Grand Fondo". My daughter gave me gardening gloves, and a new shovel, my dad brought me 30 pounds of fresh fish(salmon, steelhead, tuna and halibut) to fuel my endeavors, and my mom gave my an "I'm proud of you". Pretty awesome family.
My current goal is to be running open road by March. Jessie goal for me is run an 11:00 min pace for a 5k come March when I retest. Does our plan sound O.K? I know that my injury is still running things but I am really trying. So far so good.
Thank you for your encouragement and help. You've been great.

Our next challenge will be finding out how we can sustain your wellness / running health over the long term...
So pumped for you!
Good Morning!
I'm not sure what my back will handle only time will tell. My philosophy about being a tri. mom is one of endurance not speed. I will probably be an 11 minute superstar. I'm not the jack rabbit type. I want more from all this work than watts/kg. Here's what I mean.
My mother is 65 years old. She has NEVER broke a sweat. Never been to a gym. It took a significant amount of bugging just to get her to go for a walk. She's a sitter and a reader. A couple weeks ago we were talking and she mentioned that she was looking for a water aerobics class. Hhhmmmm? Really? Last Friday when she was down for my birthday she volunteered to go to the gym with me. I thought she would just sit and read a magazine. Nope. She came upstairs with me. She wanted to try riding an exercise bike. She tried it for @20 minute. Didn't like it. She tried a recumbent bike. After 40 minutes she was dripping, and sucking wind! She loved it! She went home and joined a gym. Now that's what I call a success. All because i'm doing what i'm doing. She called me this morning to tell me about her first trip to the gym. Nice.
My point being that I want more than just a race finish. So if I need to go slower and make/change the prep for my two primary events OK.
Have a great day and stay healthy. Jacklyn
GO MOM!!!! I never thought I would inspire her. I guess life is a circle. They inspired us now we return the favor. My mom can't wait for my first TRI. I swear she's going to become a TRI groupie. She's support services for me, husband and 7 of our closest friends. She's in heaven.
Have a great day. I hope that horrible weather has missed you- Thanks for everything. Jacklyn
Howdy from sunny Oregon!!!
You are probably fielding a lot of questions about the First Time Finishers club. IF I choose to go for an Ironman in a couple years, is the club something I can do then? Yes, I have it running around in my head but I need to see if my middle aged body can pay the rent first.
Is it possible for us newborns to access the educational aspect of this program to start a more focused/guided learning thread?
Have a great day. Loved the picture of you and the girls! Beautiful.

With pleasure coach!
Have a great day-Jacklyn
This weeks JOS week 6 has been blown to bits. One it's spring break and my family has plans and, drum roll please, a new 2 wheeled pony followed me home from Eugene. I go back for my bike fit tomorrow.
Not sure what to do to recover my lost time. I spent most of today and tomorrow driving. Should I let it go? Focus on next week. I'm hoping to go slug it out on the velo ride tomorrow evening. Scheduled are some good hills. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday i'm home with few plans. Other than to wash and wax my bike. Just kidding. Maybe not. HEEEHeeee.
Fatigue level is low. Legs feeling pretty good. My soul just wants to ride, long and hard and see what my pony can do!
New pony is a Specialized Alias Comp. A bike ment for me. Not a guys bike retro fitted to me. She is sooo smooth. Soaks up road chatter really well.
Thanks, Jacklyn
Someday a TT bike but not yet.
