Tri Kit Arrived!

  • Al - get on your trainer bent over in the aero position and have your wife take the rear view shot. Then post that for the "womens" to make the call. image
  • The transparency is above the shami. I bent over in front of the mirror & was alarmed at how see through it is. Had the hubby take a picture, but there's no way I could post that. It's that bad. I ordered a size small tri short & the fit is fine. I wonder if getting the medium might address this issue? Just concerned that it'll be too big. The top & bottom appear the same color on the hanger, but not when you put it on. The tri shorts are lighter, but again, it could be because it's stretching out more. I want to be able to wear a non-transparent kit before IMTX. Not sure if this issue will be resolved before then.
  • @ Coach Rich. My tri top is the 1st year of the new red design. 2012? I wore it in Oceanside 2012 annd IMWI 2012. I suppose one could add the length to any top they felt was a bit short w/o having to size up to get the coverage they want. You are correct...the newer tops may have a different fit althogether than the one I have.

The shorts only "seem" transparent I believe because of the white lining. For some of us women who are not beanpoles, the short material may be stretched out a bit when on and the white lining shows through a bit, thus creating a bit of a light red/orange color and may appear see thru. It's not though.

Even if it is...I don't care! Those are the most comfy shorts ever! My 5 hour trainer ride was a dream in them. Seriously...no issues and I LOVE the leg fit and length. No squeezing at the wrong place in the thigh. Love, love, love!!

My IMTX get up may be a little mis-matched in color, but I'm going with it!
  • I agree with Annie on the shorts. When stretched, the white lining may make them appear transparent and it lightens the color from red to more of an orange color. The tri top is another story. I am a size medium all around (5'-9" @ 175 lbs) and so ordered a medium. The tri top is way too stretched out, showing fat rolls I didn't know I had. I am actually down 7 pounds since I placed my order.
  • @ Phil - it definitely shows the small fat roll I have on the back side of my waist...small love handles.   I am determined to get rid of them!
  • As an lifelong OU sooner all my OK ST riding buddies loved me sporting their Orange.  That is tough.  I purchased both the road and tri kits. They fit great and do look good, dont match last years version of red especially in the sun.  Biggest problem they ARE translucent. This was also pointed out numerous times by riders behind me in group ride this morning.  Its not the white lining, and for true blondes it might not be an issue but us dark hair people will definitely get some looks. I'm bummed......

  • I took another look and can easily read the time on my alarm clock through the material. This is without really stretching them out. Also bummed.
  • The feedback I've read re the new kit is very disappointing. I just placed my order for the March-end cutoff, but I'm thinking I should not have done so. Can we return orders after we receive them, or do we need to cancel before they ship? While I want an EN kit, I really don't want to waste $150 for a kit that doesn't work for me. Thanks for the info.

  • I got my Kit and overall I am happy with it.
the shorts fit great and are very comfortable on long rides. My wife has not pointed out any transparency issues.

At 6' 4" the tri top is a bit short so I may get some back burn but otherwise, the fit is nice.

Overall assessment, could be better but I like the kit better than most of the tri shorts and tops that I have purchased online without trying on in a store.

The color is the only thing I am worried about: if red IS the fastest color and the kit is not really red, will I be slower? That would be bad. image
  • Update on tri shorts. After wearing a few more times, and really checking out the view from behind as if in aero position, the shorts not only show the white lining, but are thin looking and show a bit more that I would care to see. SO bummed!!

Also, my bike seat is rubbing off on the shorts and looks like I had an accident on the bike or run!!!!!! I cant run in these and have people think I pooped my pants! image UGH. Peeing in your wetsuit is one thing...this...quite a bit different.

I do love these sorts, so may order a plain black pair for the bike, and switch into the team shorts for the run? Hmmmmmm
  • Hey guys! Jan and I took these shorts out for a test ride yesterday and they actually looked okay- they did not appear "see through" as people seem to be worried about. One random thing I did notice, the shorts on the bottom say "Nation Endurance" instead of Endurance Nation... maybe this is how it is supposed to be? Not sure if this is just a misprint with ours. Anyone else notice the same thing?
  • @ Melissa I think you are supposed to read the EN team name from the side. I thought the same thing at first.
  • I bought the bike kit and the tri kit. Both are what most people consider orange, not red. The tri kit is more orange than the bike kit and the tri top color doesn't quite line up with the tri bottom color. Not ideal, but not a deal-breaker. Road bibs are comfy and road top is too, as long as your arms aren't too buff for the longer, tight sleeves. The tri-top is tight (as a race top should be) and it is short. You will get sunburned on your lower back if you don't cover up. That happened to me this past weekend. The shorts are really comfortable. With that said, they are transparent, and most disappointedly, they are showing a couple of abrasion spots after only 1 ride in spots that don't receive a lot of rubbing. Hope that helps others that are debating about purchasing the kit.
  • Just a comment on the gap issue between tri top and bottom. Years ago, I switched from a standard two-piece outfit for long course races to one piece, and then to tri-bibs + a tri top. A racing bib from, say DeSoto (the brand I use), has several things going for it. The legs are longer than tri shorts, giving good support nearly to the knees. The bib style prevents any issues of lower back sunburn and provides some extra support in the middle which helps a bit with the spare tire issue either peeking or bulging out. And the shoulder straps help hold the lower portion in place. For those who think it may be too warm to race in bibs, I just pull the shoulders straps off and let them dangle during the run.

While it's cool to be all decked out in EN colors overall, to me there is a clear advantage to racing in the longer legged, more comfy overall tri bib, and that's what I recommend to anyone considering buying tri-bottoms.

    Hey John,

We haven't placed that reorder yet with LG and won't until we sort this out. We appreciate your business and your patience.

  • John,

There isn't any information on the tri kit to return or exchange sizes.  If I could just get a large top I would be really happy!  And my wife states she can see my crack through the shorts!  Dang..that's so sexy, just not on me!

I still plan on getting some photos of the shorts compared to red and orange.

    Later,

    Duane

  • What Al said about the bib shorts.

Color looks plenty red to me.     I like the more red this year.        Though I am mildly color blind.

The tops are smaller, per size.       But that is ok.      Tight and aero fit.       Going for the Raelert look.      Just have to sunscreen up the midsection.

  • All,

We will have a Come to Jesus call with LG tomorrow. The local LG rep rode at the front of a tri club peleton with me last Thursday and our situation was made very, very clear. And don't get me started on the delay on the Capo jackets.

Let's just say that this week won't be a good week to be an EN vendor.

Anyway...we are well aware of everyone's comments and are working up solutions for you. Thanks for your patience!

  • I have not received anything yet. Am I the only one?

  • I'm still waiting, too. Relieved I'm not the only one. Has anyone in Michigan received theirs? I ordered shorts, leg warmers and a short sleeve jersey. Waiting...patiently...
  • Syracuse NY. Jacket, assorted tight clothing. Still no package.
  • Folks,

Due to continued delays on the jackets from Capo, I've instructed Brand Evolutions to go ahead and ship all of the orders that have been standing by, waiting for the jackets to arrive.

And we've had a flurry of emails, calls, and discussions to resolve the issue with the tri shorts. We confident we'll have a solution for you that will satisfy you.

Thanks for your patience. Trust us, we'd much rather spend our time coaching you vs slapping vendors...

  • @Coach Rich...

Not to be a total pain in the a$$, but im starting to panic a bit on my tri short selection. I love the team shorts, but for obvious reasons, cant wear them in the race.

Im planning on buying some all black shorts from LG because I love the fit, and need to get them to practice a couple long rides in them before IMTX.

In your opinion should I just go ahead and buy some, or is there some top secret squirrel code/dealio I should wait for?

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

p.s. Gonna miss you in Texas!!
  • My wife took a "rear" shot of me on the bike with the new kit. Didn't show anything. I would post the pics but the image button on these threads only does this:

    Annie,

We'll have a solution for you but I'm afraid not in time for IMTX . Sorry, probably best to source your own solution, given your timeline.

  • Thanks Coach Rich! WIll do.

  • I contacted Brand Evolutions about an exchange for the Women's Tri Top and was told the 2nd order was already placed but some extras may have been included.  Is there any way to know whether there would be an extra Women's Elite Tri Top in a size Large that I could buy? I would then send my Medium back to Brand Evolutions for a refund.

    THANKS!

I am placing the order with LG in about 90'. We have ordered a small inventory. However, all of the tri tops will be the Delfino vs the Elite top you have now. I will fit differently, a bit more loosely, basically. My advice is to order a large, when we make them available in the store, see if you like it when it arrives, and swap it out then.

I'll bump up my order a bit before a I place, then do a shot of whiskey because it feels like this all I've been doing for the last couple days...ug...
