  • Crap, I forgot!!! Will someone remind me next week?
  • Gina- Loved the sentiments from your friends. I am sure that they are "family" and keepers for certain.

Linda- Glad the finger is on the mend.

Leigh- I had to go back and read-some how I had missed that post. Every year I wish I had signed up for Mooseman. Now I am grateful I never got around to it. That really bites and is NOT fair. And big business won't give a HOOT now that they have your money. So Sorry.

Sometimes being sick and forced to take rest days is the best part. My mojo is back and running high. Of course I can not hold my FTP on intervals, but that was only my 2nd ride outside. We'll see what happens on the drainer in the morning. Saw my PCP. Explained how my sisters have had problems (autoimmune) and I have been fatigued. I will have my blood drawn in the morning as she wants to also check the adrenals along with everything else. Hoping nothing is wrong. Will report back.

    Gotta go.
  • Gina, thank you for sharing that! What inspiring, awesome friends you have! Hello to all you ladies. This is a quick note tonight, so I won't take the time to go through and list everyone. Do know however, how much I enjoy and treasure the friendships I have made with all of you, by following my intuition and joining Endurance Nation. This is so much more than just 'a team'. There is a genuine spirit of sisterhood and comraderie with all of you ladies; it is so nice to know that we are all here for each other! Not to discount the guys of the Haus either, as they have been wonderfully supportive and helpful as well!
I hope that all of the hammies, hands, fingers, toes, piriformis', thyroids, calves, and mojo's are getting better and on the mend! My mojo has been waning, but I am determined to get it back! That is the first step, yes? Reward for anyone who finds my mojo and returns it to the rightful owner! LOL!
Beth, I think you should definately pitch the idea of a book to the writer whom you know. What a unique project it would be! We are quite a unique bunch, nes't pas?
  •  Wonderful story Gina!  Kristin....great job on the race.  I'm grew up about 30 minutes from there.

For all who are sick, recovering and/or injured; hope you are feeling better soon.  I just completely lost track...

One day down....139 to go. Can't wait to meet you all on day 140!

In Minnesota thepast few days, there have been many, many car accidents involving teens.  Eleven people died up until Sunday night and seven of those were teenagers.  One accident involved the death of six people.  It is just so tragic.  How do we convince our kids to be responsible drivers.  I just don't know how a mother continues to live or even breathe after something like this.  In one of the accidents, the driver was a 16 year old girl who had been drinking.  The biggest most completely infuriating part of it is that her mother who was horribly intoxicated was in the car with her and her sisters, ages 6 and 10, were in the car.  Only the 16 year old died in that one. I just don't know how to feel about things like this.  They completely sicken me and my first impulse is that I hope the mother rots in jail.  Anyway...I'm saying a little prayer for all the parents grieving tonight.  So very tragic.

  • chat rooom? I got there too early and then too late! okay next week... gonna mention it here and WI threads.... I think it would be 7 p.m. my time. so everybody pay attn for next chat room and we can get in there and shake it up. I have read and admired everything but gotta scoot for kids. dog got the all clear, got his heartworm meds and flea stuff $$ so now the dog is good to go. you shoulda seen him, all 50lbs of him trying to get on my lap as he was anxious! in vet.. that will be me in the doc's office today a I get steroid shot! fingers crossed he will give me one! oh my gosh forgot this funny. so Iopen the ampule of flea stuff and it squirts into my face! yuck.. so now I won't have fleas... later on that night I lay down with Grace and at 9 I drift asleep but change positions and lay on my belly and put my hands under the pillow when i FEEL THIS SOMETHING FURRY RUN OVER MY LEFT HAND.. yep her hamster! oh yeah I was awake then! she had taken Snuggles out to pet him and forgot he was in the bed! critters...children.... they are trying to force me out! wear me out! and do me in! smile. m
  • Fleas!!! OMG the fleas seem to have come back overnight. We let Otto & Lilly out for about 1 hour in the morning & again in the evening every day. The routine is that when we call them to come in, they come to the back porch and we use a flea comb on them before then return inside. For the past 3-4 months this has been pretty much more of a training event because we don't get any fleas, but we kept doing it because we wanted to keep them in the routine. When I brought them in on Sunday I took just one swipe on Lilly's chest and came up with 4 fleas!!! So if you have pets- get your flea prevention practices in high gear because they are back!!!

  • Gina: Thank you for sharing that! Is that Belle in "Waiting"?

Kristen: I wear my aerohelmet for races and race rehearsals only. I've decorated with stickers of fish and other marine life so it looks extra ridiculous. It's not heavier than my regular helmet, but it's alot warmer (less air vents). It's currently SNOWING here today so I may wear it on my ride just to keep warm.

Michele and Linda: So glad to hear you're both getting better!

Sheryl: I don't know what one does to make children/teens be safe drivers. My parents were super strict and I still remember driving like an airhead when I was 16 years old. NY has a law that kids with a permit can only drive with an adult in the car and cannot drive after 10pm. That's a start. I think no texting while driving laws with big fines also help. As for drunk driving, I think a big part of society and the law is too lax about it. I'll stop there before a rant ensues.

Marianne: Great to hear Rudy's back on his feet! But FLEAS! Yuck! So far my furry kids are flea-free. That dropper med on their back is a just the best.

So I've got a patient with agoraphobia. She calls the clinic 5 times a day asking if she REALLY has to come in this week. She wants wound care, but doesn't want to leave her house understandably. So thinking about agoraphobia, I wondered if it was very prevalent among the nomads of the Mongolian steppe or the Great Plains Native American Indians. Peeps who live and survive in those wide, wide open spaces. So if you were say an Apache with agoraphobia and your tribe is riding out to hunt buffalo, are you gonna bow out and say,"I'll just be hanging out here in the teepee instead."? I'm not trying to be funny or insensitive...just one of those nutty things I think about at work. image
  • @Kit - I think about random stuff like that all the time... and that is a good question.

@Marianne - your story about Rudy jumping into your lap at the vet reminds me of a cat my family had growing up.  He would only let me hold him at the vet's and he did the cutest thing, he would bury his head under my arm - and we joked that his rationale was that if he couldn't see the vet, the vet couldn't see him and everything would be okay.

@Gina - thanks for sharing, those are lovely drawings and words.

I don't think I really have much else... trying to find my mojo... it's my first week out of OS (doing the last 6 weeks of HIM).  My schedule is off, but I can still get all the workouts in.  Excited to be back at it, which is odd that I'm having mojo issues.  Oh, and still staying mostly on top of my nutrition!  I read the thread about eating like a caveman (or something - folks who are eating all natural stuff so now their stomachs have trouble with overly processed stuff... based on a book/cookbook... argh, it's totally escaping me now - I think Beth and Michele weighed in on it) that was super interesting - if you didn't see it, I'd recommend looking through it.

  • He doesn't have fleas yet but basically vet says they are year round down here! he had them last summer as a puppy and it was bad. so now preventative measure. and oh yes he tries that burying his head in my legs so he can't see. he is a toddler! preschooler, maybe. m
  • Hey everyone, I've been having major mojo issues coming back from my nasty shingles. I've actually been avoiding a lot of the forums, b/c they have been making me anxious b/c I haven't been able to train as I want to.

Leigh- I am doing Mooseman too! Of course now this course change is majorly adding to my anxiety! I am really thinking of riding my roadie with aerobars. I can't believe they don't even send out a notice to people about this very major change. I found out on one of the forums here and have been telling friends. I imagine they would get all kinds of panic and complaints if they notified formally. Totally lame. I really feel for your friends. This is my 2nd HIM, and I remember my tremendous nerves around the first one. Sometimes the only (very small) consolation is to know that everyone else has to do the same course, best to be as prepared as possible. Maybe we just need to ride the damn course as many times as we can; guess I need to log some trips to NH...I’m sure there is some small print somewhere about how the race course can change at the director’s discretion - but hey Becky if you want to start a class action suit, I'm in!! ;-)

Nemo – great work on the century this early in the season, impressive. It is great to be able to hang on with folks that challenge you. You are mentally tough!

Olivia – wish you the best of luck this weekend!! I hope the weather is good for you! I will follow your progress!

Marianne - your pooch vet story tugs at my heart – we would have to practically drag our family lab Max into the vet. I can only imagine the terrible smells that they recognize immediately, even from down the street a bit!

Now I’m going for a run – thank you everyone for the inspiration!!
  •  Ahhh....loss of mojo is so frustrating.  I think I got mine back in Oschner.  I certainly bot my diet mojo back after looking at the weight watcher before pictures my husband took.

Yeah, our dog is so glad to get in the car and as soon as he jumps out and catches a whiff he is right back in the car. I have to be quick or I'm dragging him out.

Hope all injuries are on the mend.  If anyone figures out the race skirt, let me know.  Maybe I'll do some testing of them after July when my weight is down more.  I love the look of them.

Run this morning was first since the 70.3.  It was good, but I didn't get my Garmin on the workout before the running partners showed up and since they have general annoyance at my training anyway, I didn't get to fix it in the dark while they waited.  I'll be good and ready on Thursday!!!!!  Not gonna let the naysayers get me down!!!  Gonna beat this ironman and give you all one big hug at the finish!!! I can't wait!!!

  • Up and down, up and down--that's my physical state these days. I do enough whining around here, so a quick check in to say today was TERRIFIC! 2x20 on the bike that I CHOSE to do (rocks in my head, I know image), then 2,300 in the pool. Had to hold myself back from going for a run too. I know training ebbs and flows, but being aware of these good dayss, adds the juice to get you through the bad ones. LR tomorrow, so we'll so how that pans out.

Cali will be 1 tomorrow. How cute is that? The boys went to the store to buy her something called "Frosty Paws," so she can have a "cake." They are funny. For some reason she LOVES the vet. She runs into the office, can't wait to see everyone. She's not too crazy about the poking and prodding part at first, but she eventually just sits there "smiling" and lets them do their thing. She's afraid of a paper bag blowing across the road--but taking blood, no problem. (Thank heavens we haven't been the vet in many months now=$$$.)

  • Hey guys! Popping into this thread in between work trips - I have four in two weeks, ugh!

Aimee, I can totally identify with staying off the forums when you're bummed about training. You'll come back, don't worry - ride it out.

Beth, I laughed so hard at your post about the pink Adamo being the horse that can't be tamed! I'm glad that Tracy verified the issue so that I know I'm not entirely crazy. There must be a way to utilize this damn thing - maybe attach some cowbells to it? Hang it from a gold chain necklace? Ima put my thinkin' cap on...

That stupid tip-over this weekend continues to give me grief. I discovered a few mild bruises on my chest this morning while showering at the pool. What the?! I was worried that if anyone saw me they'd think I needed an intervention or something. I'm about to hot compress the knee - it's vastly better today but still stiff (but running and biking are pain free, go figure).

  • Checking in Ladies!  Got my bike test done tonight.  Posted to general questions about it, don't really know what to make of it.  Legs feel like they were working hard if nothing else.

Very excited to meet up with some chicas this weekend.  Glad to be getting out of town for a much needed break (from work/life not IM training).  Bike fit with TTbikefit Thursday and then hopefully a lot of biking this weekend.  Lets hope for great weather in NE.

Glad to hear the injuries are mending for all.

@ Marianne; dog is too funny, my dog likes to poke/play with the cat that lives at the office.  He would go there everyday and play, I'm convinced that he hardly feels pain and LOVES the vet.

This is my first IM training year and have to admit I am a bit overwhelmed by the training.  I know I will get it done and push through.  Trying to get mentally prepared for the next 12 weeks.  So glad to have you ladies along on the journey.

  • hey girls, you know Rudy will be one in either may or June. he is the biggest baby and quite the drama king. granted he did have surgery twice on his paw.. and now if you say "paw" he lays down for inspection.!! yep he gets to the vet door and then I drag him in with all four paws grounded..! of course he sheds in there cuz he gets anxious and then starts at barking at me and going to the door as if to say "get me outta here!". spoiled too. I brush him and he rolls over on his back, quite chilled and still as a statue untl i stop and then he nudges me for more. steroid shot is working, already! just a dull ache, still hurts but i can feel it. was in doc office for 1:45:00 most of that waiting!! m

  • Popping in while the ipod charges a bit.

Singlegirldom is turning me into an evening workout person. BAD! I'm going to end up having dinner at nine again. I need to start getting these things done in the morning. I wasn't terribly motivated to do tonight's bike workout -- until I opened the drawer of spandex and realized my favorite tri shorts were clean! If tri geek happiness is a pair of craft shorts, then so be it.

One of my friends is moving and I scored a whole stack of books. What wealth! I'm ready to curl up in my bed for about week now and just read.

Hm. Should I prep my poor neck for the tri helmet? Maybe I will pull the thing out of the box and do my 30/30s with it tonight.

  • Beth - I'm lol'd about being happy to see your fave shorts. I played a great mind trick on myself this year and sprung for a second pair of my favorite rosso corsa castelli shorts. Now I always have a clean pair and a smile as I get ready to ride.

Thanks for the support ladies- had a solid run descending the miles.

@Suzanne your poor body, sounds like swimming is a good option

@Carly hope we can meet up this weekend, will keep you posted!

Someday I'll have a dog again!
  • Hi all. Just a quick pop in this a.m. as I have to get ready for work. Feel like crap with sinus/earache/headache/sore throat that came on yesterday, and is in full bloom today. Learned the hard way not to forget to eat after taking a handful of Chinese herbs! I hope that was the cause of my upset stomach! Skipped a run yesterday and bike today, due to being sick. Have a feeling that this week is shot. I'm on week 3 of IM training. Will have to ask coaches their opinion of what to do. For now, I know I must stand down. Still having piriformis/hammie/plantar faciaitis issues as well. And if I retain any more water, I will sink like the Titanic, the next time I get in the pool! Okay, don't mean to be a buzz kill, but had to get that out! Am ready to find my mojo and get my health back!
Compared to what some of you are dealing with, I truly have no reason to talk! Hope everyone is doing well today! Take care!!
    Barb
  • Morning all!! How wonderful it is to go into work a bit later? I slept in until 6:10, sipped a latte, then knocked out the bike/run for the day. I LOVE, LOVE getting my workout done in the morning. Now enjoying some breakfast and catching up here.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CALI !!!! Maybe Mommie will take you on a special romp.

Suzanne- Hope you heal up soon!! I still can't sleep on my side due to my fall a few weeks ago. Luckily, I CAN work out.

Marianne- Glad Rudy is finally better

Barb- Sorry you a re feeling crappy. Give yourself time to get well

Kit- "Waiting" is actualy of Jen's dog, Willie. But, really, it could be any one of ours?!

Kristen- I wore my aero helmet in my first race rehearsal and TOTALLY got dogged by the roadies. NEVER again except for races.

Sheryl- SO sorry about all the tragedy your way. Can't even try and make sense out of things like that.

Time to get showered. Hope everyone has a great day!

  • Morning everyone!

I am still struggling to find my way back to morning workout status... Beth, you're right when you're single it's easy to do them at night and not worry... I got myself totally ready - pumped the tires, made the infinit (it came yesterday so I decided to try it), got my clothes laid out., set both alarms 5 minutes apart.. went to bed early (9:30) so I could get cracking by 5 and do the entire brick (60 bike, 30 run) before work (and make up yesterday's swim after)... and then I just never fell asleep.  Ugh.  I will do the brick tonight (good thing Dan is sick) and yesterday's swim some time tomorrow.  I can still get through the week and do all the workouts and that's my goal!

so many others... lots of mojo issues which I can totally relate to.  at least my run last night felt great.  I can remember when I would pray for the hard segment to finish .. and this time (3x1s) they felt good... some hammie tweaks on the hills but nothing crazy!

  • Morning, all!

Today is my first day of work this week.    It's kind of slow, which is nice, because I can catch up on phone calls, etc.

Glad to hear all the pups are doing well.  Happy birthday, Cali!  I'm a bad pet mommy - I have no idea when any of the pets' birthdays are.  Hey, they're spoiled - every day is like a birthday!

Sending healing vibes to all those sick or injured or mojo-less...

I celebrated finishing my race by breaking out the Vibram Five Fingers yesterday for their inaugural run.  It was only 5 minutes, and 10 this morning, but they sure are fun!  This will be a very sloooooowww work in progress, but I'm encouraged.  I wanted to run longer and that never happens!

    Have a great day, girls!

  • So many sick or injured! Oh my! Sending healing vibes to all of you!

Happy Birthday to Cali (and soon to Rudy too). I also have no idea what Otto and Lilly's official B-day is. They were rescue kitties so their birth date was more of a guestimate. We celebrate their "gotcha" day instead (sept 16). Although I admit, we usually forget until it's already gone by so we celebrate late. They are so spoiled I don't think they can tell the difference. In fact, they probably hate their gotcha day 'cause it means I'm probably gonna dress them up in a hat or something to take a pic!
  • Kristen I like the new pic! (Or I'm JUST noticing?)

Still sore from a huge trail this past weekend. Not doing much but hobbling around work and hobbling back and forth to teach spin classes.

Be careful out there, ladies! It sounds like a lot falls lately!

Carly, can't wait to eat cookies!
  • @Kristen - ooh, let me know how you like the Vibrams.  I got mine a few months ago and started off wearing them for my 10 or 20 minute bricks.  That was about the time my ankle started bugging me and I scratched the half mary...I wasn't sure if it was the Vibram's or not (because the first few runs my calves were soooo tight) and now that my mileage is up and my bricks are of the 30 minute variety I haven't gone back...

@Barbara - sending hugs your way!  Take care of your body and all your hurts (or, as Linda says, which I love, "your heart and your parts")... yikes!

@Nemo - max and sid were born in a friend's parents' neighbors' garage... strays.  so, I'm not sure of their b-day either... but they were about 8-10 wks when I first took them to the vet (I can still remember all the earmites and stuff I had to deal with) which was late June 2000... so I guess they turn 10, well, any day now - maybe some extra pounce tonight for the occasion.

another day of rabbit food for lunch... so far so good... I'm still trending down down (slowly)!  and, amazingly, I think my body is finally adapting and I don't feel hungry all the darn time... although I'm just beginning HIM prep so I wonder if that will change - but I'm fully stocked with fruit, salad stuff, seeds, nuts, low fat dairy... and the healthiest carb varieties I can muster (whole wheat with flax pasta, brown rice, kashi cereal and granola bars)... we'll see.

very much looking forward to my brick tonight (although I want to get back to my morning routine, I actually don't mind evening workouts...).  got my infinit bags yesterday... will try the lemon lime "becky bike" mix tonight and the orange "becky run" mix for my 2 hour run tomorrow.  I made the infinit for my bike last night... hope it's good to sit in the fridge for a day... Anyway, fingers crossed the formulas are decent... definitely glad I got them in time for the RR (even better I can try them out once before the RR)!

I'm sending good karma around... sounds like many of us are struggling with one thing or another... it's been so nice to check in and boost my mojo here - I really can't wait to start meeting more of the Haus Chicas as time goes by (and very lucky to have Suzanne nearby), you're all so inspiring!

Hey guys! Popping into this thread in between work trips - I have four in two weeks, ugh!

Ima put my thinkin' cap on...

maybe put it on a stake, prongs up, and walk around like it's a devil's pitchfork... with a pink cape and pink pointy ears (attached to your aero helmet) I think you could pull it off.

  • Girls I feel good today. and so does the dog! I feel normal. wow. I like it! I ran 10 this morning with some GFs & Rudy.. plenty of walk breaks but I got my "work" done.. (Rudy only ran 1/2 of that) and then biked easy one hour this afternoon smelling the honeysuckle. 75 and sunny here. had lunch (black bean soup with a hot coffee sitting outside at Panera Bread) with my mother I mean really. how more perfect of a day coulda it been?? oh okay, mother gave me some fresh picked strawberries which I am now eating! oh my weight is down one pound... and I am about to plant some gladiollas outside in the sun.... anyways celebrating feeling good, 15 days post synthroid dosage change, one day post steroid shot! okay off to the outside... oh, well might as well top off a perfect day with a popsicle!!! m
  • Not sure I ever posted this for my ladies. Re the weight thing, I'm getting my Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) tested on Tuesday. Maybe it might help some of y'all to do the same. I am tired of guessing that 1,800 cal is right. My weight is going no where. Once i know my RMR, then I can absolutely track what's really going on. The test is $60, and I think it's worth it.

Here's what I posted in Nutrition:

I talked to teammate/nutrtionist extraordinaire Penny Wilson, and she agreed that getting my resting metabolic rate (RMR) tested is hugely important and informative. I think many over-estimate what their RMR is, thus taking in too many calories day in and day out, even when "watching it." Big red flag is "having trouble losing when tracking every mouthful." Once you know your real RMR, then you can really figure out what you need to eat in the course of a training day--from pre-ride, to in-ride, to post-ride, and beyond.

When you know your real RMR, add in the calories expended in the workout, and consume ~500 under that for a loss of 1-2 lbs. per week. For example (to do easy math) say your RMR is 1500, and you burn 1000 on the ride = 2,500 for the day to maintain your weight. Consume ~2,000 total for weight loss. Don't forget to add in the calories you consume during that 4 hour ride too. They count.

If you are interestedin getting your RMR tested,

    this web site

allows you to plug in your zip code and see how has the Medgem or Bodygem in your area. Penny uses the Bodygem, and it is reviewed well everywhere. A lot of the RMR charts were conceived in ~1920. There is a better way to figure out the amounts we really need to eat

  • Ok- somebody help me! I just realized today I had seen zero posts since the weekend. now I know we have our spells but .... I am no longer getting email notifications on this thread and the WI thread. Anybody else have this?

    So in catching up....

Skirt sports- have 'em, love 'em - ran IMLOU08 in marathon girl!! Also a very good one to try is Moving Comfort. I have a very adorable skort with a long tank in lime/brown. One of my fav parts, on the leg of the shorts it has a tag that reads... be happy! HOW COOL!

Happy Birthday to all the pup and puppy mommies!

I always used to tell my girls that came to class, the hardest part is getting out that door and in class. Have had some of the same not getting am workouts in, lack of mojo stuff here. I think we should call this the "warm up" of the commencement of IMWI training! Once we get in the long ride/run, smoothie makin, carbo pro flow, things WILL kick in. Funny how we can all be on the same thought wave lengths some time... I had thought it would be neat if we started a collective Chicka blog (which is what we already do in here) but more specific to IMWI training. If each of us did a video or written post each week, nothing long or detailed but just pick something we would already be sharing in here (this thread) to have to look back on post race... just a thought....

I am also SOOOOO on the get a new job/career mental trail. Of course, stressful work environment is fueling that right now but each year I realize that I spend way too much time doing something I don't love or even like. To that end, I've also been working on moving toward the fitness arena as well. Not thinking abt a "gym" per-say here in KY but more of a training center... complete chain/network of fitness professionals for endurance athletes. One day.....

Well for me.... I did not end up doing my Half mary this weekend. Mind you, I did not train to race this event and had every intention of selling my bib until race officials decided to institute a no transfers policy 3 wks prior to race. With 3 States coming up, I've been focusing on the bike and staying healthy for that ride. I woke up at 4:30am to howling winds and rain. Flip on the tube and forecast calls for 95-100% rain. This race is a point to point, so you have to get down there by 5:15am, park, walk to a bus, wait in line, get dumped at the start for your 1 hr wait (race starts 7:30am). Typically I can catch a ride out to start and avoid this but since I didn't plan on running, no ride. After (as many of you can remember) my stormy race history last year, decided I wasn't going to start the year with chaffing and blisters and went back to bed. Get up around 8ish and guess what ..... a very few sprinkles but NO rain!! Ended up being a great day to run and I ended up running later in the day without the fun. BOOOOOO!! I was so bummed but given the chance, I would have made same decision again.

So I checked the forecast for Sat in Chattanooga.... yep, 60% chance of storms. Coincidentally, I did buy a rain jacket and it's the Very SAME one that Beth tagged a few days ago in a post. Super glad to hear you like it! Looking forward to meeting Gina and hoping the rain will hold off till post ride!!

Kitima- Ok, so I guess I can't complain abt 38 degrees when you have snow ... :-(

Nemo- Your weekend ride sounded awesome! Go happy you have found a good group of folks in your new home to take care of you for us!

Leigh- I hear ya gal! I know if anyone can find a way to still make the weekend fun, it's you & Dave!!

Linda- thanks for posting up the nutrition tidbit. I have been reading about this and after trying to log things in Daily plate, I can see where the more you know, the more effective you can be! I'll have to see if we have anyone close testing.

Sorry- know I have forgotten lots of folks here but am exhausted after reading 3+ pages in catchup!
  • I had thought it would be neat if we started a collective Chicka blog (which is what we already do in here) but more specific to IMWI training.

I had thought the same thing. One time I saw a group blog about a group of swimmers doing the English Channel,
  • Kris: I think you made the right decision about the half-mary. Hard running efforts take a while to recover from--whereas you can anihilate yourself almost daily on the bike and be okay.  I think a IMMoo Chica blog would be awesome. If we're all in agreement, I can set it up on blogspot.

Linda: Thanks for the referral for the RMR. I had a similiar test done at a gym 5 years ago. The result was that I burned 1800 Cal at RMR. I can't imagine how low it must be now.  I weighed myself this morning and found that I was 6.5 pounds lighter than what I weighed at my GYN's office yesterday. While I still don't like the number I saw on the scale this morning, it's WAAAY better than the freaking I ate a cow weight from yesterday. I've stepped away from the ledge now...

Marianne: So glad to hear you're feeling better. I attribute it to the new thyroid med dose. And the black bean soup at Panera---YUM!

Kristen: I bought the VFF this winter, but haven't run on them yet. 5 minutes sounds like a good place to start. How differently did you feel running in them?

Barb: Hope you get better soon! I had a lingering sinus infection during my vacation and 3 weeks after---it SUCKED! Rest and you shall be well!

Aimee: Good to hear you're on the mend from shingles. I've heard they can be very painful. Totally understand not wanting to hang out in the forum when you're standing down. Seems like everyone's Vdots and FTP's are shooting through the roof while you're recovering. There's an injured athlete thread---that was nice to go to and not feel alone.

Beth: I'm with ya on the evening workouts. If only I didn't have to get to work early, I would do all of my workouts after 6pm and in the dark! That being said, I told Becky on FB last night that I'd be in the pool by 5:30am today. It was the only thing that got me in the water this morning. Love getting it done before I'm even awake enough to feel the pain, but I just can't seem to be an early bird. Wah!

My puppy's birthday is in July. Piggy (the cat) was a stray/animal shelter rescue so his birthday and age are indeterminate. Since he's a black cat, I've made his birthday Halloween. Both of my fuzzy kids are going to be 11 years old this year.  Getting old for the yellow lab, Middle aged for the kitty.
