William, so very very sad for the tragedy that has come upon your family. I pray that all of you can find some measure of peace and comfort amidst this horrible loss.
William, Hearing this brings tears to my eyes. I am so sorry for your loss. As one who lost a 2 year old son and nearly lost a second 3 year old son, I can only say stay close to God and your family. I will pray for healing for your family. May God bless you in this time of sadness.
To the Jenks family and their friends. 3 families in Israel shared the ultimate tragedy with you this past week. When I read the words of one of the mothers, I thought of all of you. Take care.
Rachel Fraenkel, Naftali's mother, said in her eulogy to her son: "Rest in peace, my child. We will learn to sing without you. We will always hear your voice in our hearts."
Rode outside for the first time since T's accident today. (Have been riding indoors in the interim.) For a variety of reasons, my route included a few laps of a loop that included the road he was killed on. Not easy, but nothing was going to be easy.
I stopped to take a photograph of this. I don't remember the exact spot of the accident, but I'm sure this is close enough that someone has to have erected it for him
.
The support we've gotten is pretty phenomenal from our community of Ames, the swim community, the tri community, the soccer community, and the runners. We got flowers from multiple swim clubs, who knew Tim only as one of the kids on another team... from the Department of Energy (who funds my wife's lab)... from USAT ... from all over the place. Over 800 people turned up for the visitation. None of this will bring him back, but it was comforting to see how many people he touched.
I want to thank all the EN folk who sent well wishes or photos ...they made a huge impression on people.
Ghost bikes are beautiful memorials. I don't think anyone is ever sure who puts them out, but the communities embellish with flowers etc. thank you for sharing your journey with us.
William, my heart goes out to you and the family. No words can explain or help what you are going through but do know we are all here for you and sending love and support your way. Xxx
