I heard today (from Facebook so it must be true) that Gatorade was getting a 3 year contract. It is supposed to be a specific formula not just what you buy in a grocery store. I don't drink Gatorade in any form so I'm not sure whether this is good or bad, but I don't mind change so I'm open to trying it.
Yep. Gatorade Endurance was on the course for several years before the switch to Perform:
So with this change, we know the drink will go to Gatorade.... However, what about gels? Do we think they will have GatorLites there? Cause those are tasty... but the blocks taste like chalk and jelly mixed. Bad combo.
Funny part is that i was on a panel testing these products last year. I was game for the drink and gatorlites, but nothing else.
I trained with Gatorade Pro most of 2013 for Chesapeake Man. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the Gatorade pro bottles on the course are 24 oz. At least they were in 2013. Perform bottles are 20oz.
the plus side is, you get more when you get handed a bottle at an aid station. The con side is its way harder to do math on the fly in multiples of 24 vice 20 if you are trying to figure out how much you have taken in.
I volunteered at IMFL... our run station captain didn't show up for our meeting and was 'not helpful' at the aide station...(and forgot our wristbands for next day sign up) but was otherwise FANTASTIC! oy... ANYway.... only 2 or 3 athletes wanted the Perform (granted it was REALLY COLD OUT) and none of us knew what the heck they wanted (2 of us were ironman finishers) ... "perform perform perform PERFORM!".. and I'm thinking...WTH? we finally figured out it was the stuff that looked like anti-freeze and brake fluid. ACK.
