Marathon Relay Results Thread

Got mine done early so that I can ride later. Woke up with a sore throat and should have bagged it but am stoopid and just went for it. Result was OK. Throwing up a little in front of the old lady walking her dog at about mile 4 was not cool at all. Faded hard after that but managed to hold a sub 40 10k together. Such is life:

Entire workout (6:27 min/mi):
Duration: 43:03
Work: n/a
rTSS: 76.5 (0.996)
NGP: 6:29 (248.0 m/min)
Distance: 6.552 mi
Elevation Gain: 864 ft
Elevation Loss: 906 ft
Grade: -0.1 % (-43 ft)
Min Max Avg
Speed: 0 11 9.3 mph
Pace 5:27 0:00 6:27 min/mi
Altitude: 257 388 324 ft

Team Run This Way is on the Board.

6:15, 6:19, 6:15, 6:35 [starting to cough it up],6:44[losing it then regrouping],6:30

Time to make pancakes for the babies and then get the ride in. 48 degrees is down right balmy for the end of November...gotta take advantage of that.

Chris, way to suck it up and get it done. I'm doing the opposite, just got back from the pool and going to do my intervals on the bike and then the run. I'll have some numbers to post in about 3 hours.
  • NICE RUN Chris G!!!
  • when is team Chavez going to be posting results?

when is team Chavez going to be posting results?

We're not doing it this year. I finally have a weekend off work and soccer so we are riding long with friends. We planned it 6 weeks ago. Tomorrow trails which are hard alone, forget adding speed.

It was fun last year !! If it were next weekend we could have done it for sure. Oh well!!

That one really hurt, but I had to push through it since it was a challenge.

Let's see if Coach P can come in faster!
  • Nice, sub 40 was my super outside shot goal. I think it is doable just not today. Impressive as always.
  • Nice work Matt and Chris! It's hard sitting on the sidelines for this! Last year was a blast.
  • Team RunThatWay Member #3 checking in. Man, that really hurt. A lot. Matt I never saw your results first, but don't think it would have mattered...bad tummy feelings + diet = not on top of my game...officially 40:53.

  • Nice Run P!

I'm glad I knew you were going to try to catch me because I needed the extra motivation today.
  • Nice job one & all!
  • Sorry to whoever gets stuck with me as a relay partner. Things just didn't go that well today.

  • Tony -

that's great work! no way I could have run a half today...bonus mojo points to you!

    Patrick
  • Thanks P, but while I didn't think I'd be at HMP (8:17), I thought I could at least do this run at MP (8:35) instead of borderline LRP (9:59). So I'm not too happy with the result. I guess I'm one of those "kinda fat middle aged guys who think running 40 miles a week is a lot" image

At this point I'm kind of tempted to go out and run 13 tomorrow just so no one but me has to get stuck with my slow time in the challenge. But that would really get in the way of my doing my CompuTrainer IM-AZ sympathy sufferfest thing. image
  • Tony.

21k is far. All there is to it. Would not do it again tomorrow. It would be even less fun. That said, if you need a partner I will run it in the morning. Won't make any promises on fast but will get the miles done. Let me know.
  • i ended up doing it today as a brick after the sat. workout. i missed thurs. FTP workout do to life and worried about how to get in most of the workouts. as i was doing the 20 minute brick, i was over FTP pace for the 20 and felt good, so just kept going. looked back to when we did 10k vdot tests about a year ago and this run was 1:26 faster. i'll take that image, especially since my run training hasn't been good.
    team nor'ester: 50:45---6.558 miles for 7:44/mile

going to brick again tomorrow, but definitely not 6 miles.
  • Got out this evening. Did not get my power nap. My 5 year old decided that my bed room would make a good place to practice her new dance moves.
Any how felt pretty good but not alot of snap to my legs which I guess is because I havent been running the last 2 weeks.

What the heck were you thinking trying to do this as a brick? I've been procrastinating all morning dreading this run. I guess it is time. Reporting back soon...
  • Thanks to Jim Hansen inviting me to run with him today I got out and got the other 13.1 done. I may have skipped it if I was on my own.

I'm pretty pleased considering the number I did on myself yesterday, the rough week and the extra 10 pounds i'm carrying around at the moment.

6.55 miles, 47:00. Slower than I hoped but I'm still not feeling 100%.

  • I was planning on using my best split for team POV, but I will put up my whole race 'cause I want to shareimage

    Whole 13.1 = 2:20:20, Ave pace 10:21

    First 6.55 = 1:10:04 *best split*

    Second 6.55 = 1:10:16

Finished the Phily half-marathon in record time, 16 min better than my previous PR, an absolutely perfect day for running! Plus I got to high-five Mayor Nutter at the start, a giant pancake at mile 6 and several grown men dressed like parrots. Pretty good day. Hills in the second half were made up by a potty break in the first. Came out with almost an even split!

  • nice work Dave, especially given that you were dreading it and still a little under the weather. i think this challenge is a sneaky way for the coaches to go back to the 10k vdot re-test during week 3 of the plan image without telling anyone.
let's see where the other 2 nor'easter team members are?
