David, the KICKR and short intervals often do not mesh well. The KICKR does have some lag time and that's just inherent in the technology as it takes a few seconds for the KICKR to ramp up to the wattage. That stated, part of this is actually a Trainer Road software issue. Nate Pearson from TR has been on the ST forums and has spoken about the lag time with the KICKR and their software. I believe they are or they have made some tweaks to lessen the lag issue but it will always be an issue as it just takes a little bit of time for the flywheel to adjust to the power target.
Thanks Bob. Getting used to it and take the lag into consideration. Have a general range of about 20W between the K and the Q. However, yesterday did Sufferfest No Try and it was more like 15. Not sure why the difference. Stil having a fair amount of variance that is very evident on the graph, not sure how to deal with that if it even makes any difference... (Smoothing set to 3 seconds)
So why aren't you having the Quarq output drive the Kickr ? I though that is what the newest upgrade is supposed to allow. if you do that, then you will only be operating based on what your Quarq states is reality.
I use the Kickr as the road, usualy running TrainerRoad software. (Love the Sufferfest Videos, but also do the EN Plans). Quarq then measures what I am doing on the road.
David i think you are missing my point. this is the solution to your problems. Quarq driving the Kickr so you are only getting data output from the Quarq, not the Kickr. as i understand it, this is what the latest update is supposed to do.
I will look for Bob's response. Maybe I don't understand. Currently I select a program on TR. I have the K set to recover the program from TR. I usually ride in ERG mode and let the K adjust the tension. TR records and that is what I see on the screen. At the same time my Q is recording and I see that data in my 910 and 800. Is there a way to run TR thru Q and then to K? I did just see a post from Ironvan (former EN) that showed a TR ride but said powered by Q. I was going to ask him how he does that?
David, with the latest firmware updates you can let the Quarq (or whatever power meter) control the KICKR power instead of the KICKR's internal power meter. So the Quarq tells the KICKR what to do and the power data is 100% coming from the Quarq and the Quarq only.
