All that cord and core work seems to be paying off for a lot of us. I did my 1000 yd TT today and managed 15:40 for 1:34/100 yd. Looked up my best time from last year during IM TX training and I'm only 5 sec/100 slower now. Pleasantly surprised since I haven't done much swimming in the last 6 months. Hopefully with the work of the HIM plan coming up I can get it back.
I was happy with how my test went yesterday night - 18:35ish for the 1000m. That included some awkward negotiation of other swimmers in my lane on a couple of occasions during the test set. Swam 3:40-3:45ish for the 200s.
Those are some good swim trial times. Hope mine is good as well tomorrow. I got behind on the swim workouts this week due to travel for work. Did Monday on Friday and Wednesday on Saturday. Swim golf scores are better. Best scores were 92 on Friday and 93 on Saturday. Overall the scores were more consistent. Look for smooth strokes - like that guy in the next lane over on Friday. Glad I do not have to swim with him every day! Swim trial tomorrow.
I decided that I'm going to do the bike test next week in the first week of the get faster plan since I blew the test the last week of NOS. I have Monday off and it's supposed to be really nice here, sunny and upper 50's, so I'm going to do the test then outside. So today I decided to do tomorrow's run and today's bike. I did the run this morning and hit the 2, 1 mile intervals right on target. I came home and had some chocolate milk with BCCAs and lunch then a nap.
Late this afternoon I took off and did the bike outside on my road bike. The workout called for 12X1' (1') Vo2. My tested Vo2 is 297 inside on the trainer. I did the intervals and did quite a bit higher than 297 on most of the intervals. Here they are:

Tomorrow is going to be mostly a rest day with a walk on the beach! Have a good Sunday run everyone.
Did the swim test Friday as scheduled. 1:44/100y (about 6 seconds faster than my last test last year) over 1100 yards (just to get to 1000 m). Felt that the technique work the past two weeks really helped!
Last workout of swim camp is done. I am doing my 1000m/yd TT on Monday as my pool was closed on Friday and my new plan has me do it in Monday anyway :-)
I am starting week 14 of the intermediate short course plan tomorrow. It actually a test week, and I really don't feel like doing more tests, but I will likely do the run 5k at the track just for masochism...
Swim camp has been a nice break, but I sort of turned it into Beer and Chips Camp. Back to work now ;-)
Finally did my swim test today. Could not go on 2-15, too tired after running 12 miles to prep for the Cowtown half in two weeks. Monday morning was an ice storm and I opted not to venture out. Pleasantly surprised with my 1000 swim trial time (having never done one of these tests) 18:58, and 1:54 ave. per 100 yards. Felt so good, I did the Wed run on the Get Faster Plan afterwards!

Got the time trial WO in on Friday. 1000yd in 18:23 for a 1:50/100yd pace. Not bad for me... be interesting to see if I can build on that...

Same here! Need to get back on the horse with the more rigorous schedule coming up!
