Training Peaks Q & A Thread

  • I have the training peaks basic (free) which everything uploads to.  I use it to track weekly and yearly mileage/hour totals.  I find it is an easy way for me to track shoe/bike/wheel mileage.  I then purchased WKO+4 for my analysis.  Everything from my training peaks account can be synced with WKO+4. I use strava for the social aspect only.  My garmin connect account is simply a conduit to send workouts to training peaks and strava.
  • Thanks @Tom Box

I too have a Garmin watch, usually for swimming and running,I use the wahoo app via my trainer for indoor rides, but also tried it outside and seemed to have slightly different info than my watch for results, which was odd.

Regardless I will also take al look at WKO+4 and see what the deal is with that as well...thanks agin for your opinion.

  • Not necessarily a TrainingPeaks question, but more of a Garmin/Zwift/Strava question.

When riding in Zwift, I use my Garmin Fenix 3 for HR/Power/Speed/Cadence etc.  I have my Garmin sending to Strava.  I want to hook up Zwift to Strava, but I don't want to duplicate activities.  Is there a way to either merge what Garmin and Zwift is sending to Strava, or to stop Garmin from sending it on indoor rides (done on Zwift)?

What I want to avoid is to having to go in and delete an activity out of Strava every time I do an indoor ride.

  • @Jason Veith - when you finish a ride on Zwift, you can choose to have it send or not send over to Strava. I like sending it over because the Map is cooler  But you can choose every time!
  • @Coach Patrick  - But don't you get duplicate activities in Strava?  One from the Garmin, and one from Zwift?
  • Good news!!!  Strava was smarter than I thought.  Since Zwift was the first to post the activity to Strava, the activity from Garmin didn't post.  Exactly how I wanted it to work.

  • Upgraded to premium today and unless I missed the post somewhere (which is likely), is there a way to upload our EN plans direct to Training Peaks so to have all the planed workouts on the calendar? Or do you have to just copy and paste them in as you go like in the free version?

No sir. EN isn't pushing workouts/training plans to TP yet.

Yes, you just have to copy-and-paste, even using the "workout builder" if you want to make it real fancy!
