Did my Saturday bike today....supposed to rain most of the day tomorrow..so I biked and did my 1st swim of the year! Felt great, the hot tub afterwards felt even better!
doing almost 99% of my bikes on the trainer. Only opportunity to bike outside is saturdays but either is is too cold, rainy or some obligation and using the trainer is just been easier for outseason. Which kills me that I moved from MN to NC and it is unheard of to bike outside in Jan! But got my 90 min ride in today!
I feel like i need to be outside to "really" know where I am at! Anyone else in that situation?
I've only been outside on the bike once or twice this NOS, not counting when I've ridden to work, but that's not unusual for us in the winter. I just put in the work and trust that I'm progressing.
I got on the bike after going up to see my mom this morning. Since I didn't get to finish the Vo2 intervals yesterday, I cued up that workout. I was using ERG mode on the Computrainer and during the first interval I was in a big gear. The readout on the computer said the load was 250 watts but my garmin was reading in the 230's. I realized that the high speed of wheel was acting like a flywheel and lowering the effort I had to put out so I shifted gears to a lower gear and it was much harder and the Garmin and computer synced up. So the first interval was a little light but the last 4 were right in the wheelhouse. They were 1.07, 1.13, 1.15, 1.16 &1.16. I followed the intervals with a 15 minute ramp from 70 to 190 watts. I followed the bike with a 5.24 mile run. The legs felt great.
@Mark- huge numbers! Very impressive. I ended up doing my Thursday wko today, due to family commitments. Felt pretty good with the 5 x 4' z5 low intervals, hitting a tick above 1.10 IF on the last 4 intervals. 1.10, 1.11, 1.12, 1.11, 1.11 I must admit, I need every one of those 6 min rest periods to crank out the next interval. I may have to bag the actual Saturday workout since I need to hit the Sunday workout pretty hard.
I've been lurking on the threads, but paying attention and keeping my WKOs up. As others have said, I really hit a wall with the adjustments at wk 8 testing. I'm just now getting to where I can consistently complete the intervals fully as prescribed, which I guess is an indicator of improving fitness. Since it's all been on the trainer, I am reassured that anything I'm seeing is as real as it can be.
Great to see all of the hard work happening out there!
I was visiting my parents this weekend, so I did the Saturday bike wko yesterday evening. Was able to hit the the targets for the 2 X 15' intervals and all three of the the Z3 intervals. My cycling legs were well rested, so I know that helped. I am feeling better about next weeks testing. I will see how tonight's ride goes.

Slept through my alarm, which meant that I would have a late night trainer session.
