Maximising the gains from the get faster plan.

Hi team. Does any of you rockstar triathletes have any advice for training using the get faster plan? I've just started day 1 and I was hoping that all of you experienced athletes might have some tips. Any advice or ideas will be AWESOME!

  • Sorry late to this thread.  The plans work try to  follow them but don't do that in to a brick wall.  That is if you need some time off or an easy day take it.  The structure is set up to get you rest in between workouts if you have to move things hit coach P up in the mirco forums.

I won't comment on the plans specifically as it's been awhile since I had one loaded up.

What @Gordon Cherwoniak said and add the following:

If you want to get the most out of GF or any other EN plan, join the group actively participating in that plan/race and post your work, your challenges, ask questions.  Do it religiously and you will find the real hidden gold within EN. There are veterans in there daily adding invaluable responses and posting their work as well.

Here is the current GF forum link: https://endurancenation.vanillacommunities.com/discussion/23076/2017-get-faster-or-just-get-some-mojo-forum#latest

    Welcome to the party.

  • Thank you so much for posting on my thread and helping me , Shaughn and Gordon. The advice you guys have given is appreciated. You guys are rockstars in my book!
  • No matter what plan you are using, consistency is the key to fitness... whether you are new to the sport, or just trying to get back enough fitness to enjoy your chosen race. GF contains all of the components that you need to become a solid athlete. GF fitness is flexible. I'm having a tough spring, so I loaded up GF and have the option to move to a Half or a Short Course Plan depending on how things go from here. I had a great season last year, but some off-seasons in 1993, 2007, and 2014. @Shaughn Simmons is a great example of consistency. The best, often modify their workouts to assure that they are on the road (almost) everyday.
  • Thanks, John for the advice. Just about every world class athletes mentions consistency being the secret sauce. That advice puts you in good company.
  • @Clayton Bryant - I've been schooled by the WSMs here that consistent(read daily), sport specific efforts help you climb the mountain. If you aren't using Training Peaks, learn to, the PMC chart is your best view of your consistency.
  • @Scott Dinhofer Hey, Scott. Thanks for the info. I'll definitely look into training peaks. I do keep a log of all my workouts and write down my thoughts about my workouts every night just so I can keep on top of everything but training peaks would be a great addition to my training. Solid advice, Scott.
